IDF targets source of cross-border fire from Syria

After 2 incidences of cross-border fire from Syria on Tuesday evening, IDF tanks target the source.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon visited the borders with Syria & Lebanon earlier on Tuesday saying, ‘We will respond to all fire from Syria’.

Israel was struck twice on Tuesday by cross-border fire from Syria. In the first incident, a mortal shell exploded in the Tel Fares area of the Golan Heights on Tuesday evening. Shortly afterward, Israeli soldiers near the Tel Hazeka military post came under fire from Syria. There were no injuries or damage in either incident.

Israel establishes ‘field hospital’ to treat the injured Syrians

Officials confirm that due to growing number of injured Syrians arriving at Israel’s border, a ‘military field hospital’ was built on an IDF outpost in the Golan Heights.

In light of the steady increase in the number of wounded Syrians Israel has been treating, the IDF has set up a “military field hospital” at army outpost 105 in the Golan Heights, AFP reported Thursday.

Israeli officials confirmed that the hospital was set up to treat injured Syrians near the border fence and avoid having to evacuate them to hospitals inside the country. Continue Reading »

IDF destroyed Syrian military post that shot at IDF

Tensions continue to escalate in the Golan Heights as IDF fires Tamuz missile at military post after Syrians fire bullets at IDF patrol.

On Saturday the Syrians hit an IDF jeep with rifle fire.

The IDF opened fire at a Syrian military post on Sunday after the Syrians opened fire at IDF soldiers. The IDF used a Tamuz anti-tank guided missile at a Syrian post in the Tel Fares area in the southern Golan Heights. There were no casualties on the Israeli side. The Syrian post was destroyed and two armed Syrians were wounded.

7 hurt Syrians treated in Israeli Hospital

IDF confirms 7 Syrians hurt on Syrian Golan in battles between Syrian army & rebels, were taken to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.

Seven Syrians hurt in battles between Syrian army forces and rebels were taken to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed Saturday. One of the men is in critical condition.

“An IDF force administered medical care to the wounded men near the border fence and they were taken for further treatment,” a statement said.

Israel seeks initialization of buffer zone inside Syria

‘The Sunday Times’ quotes military planners as saying a ‘buffer-zone’ plan to protect Israel from global jihadists, much like that of the southern Lebanese security zone (1982-2000), has already been shown to Netanyahu.

Thursday’s Updates of Israel’s reported strike on the Syria-Lebanon border

The target of the IAF attack was apparently an arms convoy moving from Syria to Lebanon, but it is still not clear exactly where the strike occurred because of contradicting reports, or whether the SA-17 Missile cache also included chemical weapons.

International media reported Wednesday that Israel launched an overnight air strike on Lebanon’s border with Syria, after carrying out four separate flyover missions in Lebanese air space.

Israeli sources quoted as saying Syria’s WMD munitions cache has been moved to new locations over the past week; The U.S. and its allies are weighing military options to secure Syria’s   biological & chemical weapons, White House officials said last week.

 

 

Israel has embarked on a “secret war” to track down Syria’s chemical and biological weapons, the Sunday Times has reported.

As part of the operation, said the Times, Israel has deployed spotters across the border to monitor the movement of Syria’s non-conventional arms cache.

A mortar shell fired from Syria fell on the Israeli side of the border fence on the Golan Heights Wednesday afternoon, security sources said Wednesday night. The incident occurred near the Tel Azeka IDF post on the Golan. IDF sources said that they did not believe that the shell was fired on purpose, but was a stray shell that was misfired by either government or rebel forces engaged in fierce fighting on the Syrian side of the border. IDF Jeep Hit AGAIN by Rebel Gunfire from Syria

Rebel gunfire from Syria hits IDF for third jeep, Israel complains to UN.

An IDF jeep patrolling the northern border was hit by gunfire from Syria on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the Ramat Golan region.

The jeep was damaged, but soldiers were not hurt. The soldiers did not return fire despite new rules of engagement in the area.

IDF commanders believe the shots were not aimed at Israel, but rather, were stray shots from fighting in Syria. Fighting has approached the border in recent weeks. Lebanon Army defuses Grads found & aimed at Israel – Syrian gunfire on Israel border

Lebanese security forces discovered rockets positioned just four km from border, set to fire as act of solidarity with Gazans

Lebanese security forces on Monday discovered two Grad rockets that were aimed at Israel in the southern region of Mazraat Halta, the official Daily Star news agency reported.

A source told the agency that the rockets, which were found just four kilometers from the Israeli border, were defused by security forces. He said the rockets could reach seven kilometers into Israel if launched in full power.

Stray Syrian fire hit an IDF patrol in the Golan Heights on Saturday night. No injuries were reported but an IDF jeep was damaged. This is the fourth such incident recorded in the past week.

The incident began when an IDF patrol was hit by Syrian fire in the Tel Hezeka area. The IDF fired artillery at the Syrian post in response.

The regime in Damascus has pledged to prevent its army from accidentally firing rockets towards Israeli territories, conveying the message via the UN force charged with implementing the ceasefire between Syria and Israel, Channel 1 reported Tuesday.

However, officials expressed doubt that the Syrian security forces, which are fighting rebels along the border with Israel, can exercise such control.
