Israeli 2012 Tech bought out for record total of $5.5 Billion

2012 had 50 deals with an average deal size of $111 million, compared with 63 deals with an average size of $81 million in 2011.

Israeli tech startups were bought out for a record total of $5.5 billion in 2012, according to a report published Monday. The report also suggests a maturity in the Israeli sector with fewer, but larger, deals transacted.

Israel’s discovery of 250 billion barrels of shale oil is a ‘game-changer’

US expert celebrates Israel’s discovery, says molecular research of the new resource will provide a better understanding of alternative fuels and extraction.

 

Developing a firmer understanding of shale oil’s chemical complexities is crucial to the search by oil explorers in both Israel and North America drilling at home in shale rock and sands for alternatives to traditional OPEC crude, an expert told The Jerusalem Post in an interview last week.

The company Israel Energy Initiatives (IEI), which has already completed an exploratory pre-pilot drilling phase in Israel’s Adullam region near Beit Shemesh, has claimed that the area — also called the Shfela Basin — contains approximately 250 billion barrels of shale oil, amounts that could be competitive to the amount of crude oil in Saudi Arabia. Techmer, an Israeli communications company wins WTC contract

Israel’s Techmer is to deploy smart communications systems at 1 World Trade Center in NY in bid to allow rescue forces to contact each other in any situation

Israeli company Techmer has won a bid to deploy smart communication systems at One World Trade Center (1 WTC), the lead building of the new World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City.

The project is estimated at $11 million.

Techmer, a subsidiary of C. Mer Industries, specializes in smart communication solutions for security and emergency forces. In Israel it was in charge of the Carmel Tunnels project, which provides communication coverage for all security and emergency forces. Continue Reading »

Introducing the invisible keyboard

Jerusalem-based SnapKeys is bringing smart phone users a whole new way to type, for a free mobile experience.

Unlike the QWERTY keyboard, SnapKeys arranged letters by primary shape.

It’s always easy to see who chose typing class at high school when watching grownups in the boardroom. Those who didn’t learn how to type properly stumble over laptop keyboards with two fingers or thumbs.

Today’s smart phones have made most of us just as awkward whether we learned QWERTY or not. Our fingers feel like big fat sausages as we aim for the tiny letters. Could there be another way?

An Israeli company called SnapKeys has introduced an invisible keyboard that is based on letter shapes rather than frequency of letter use, frees up screen space and lets a smart phone user communicate better.
