Major General Nitzan Alon, the Head of the IDF’s Central Command, met leaders of the Jewish settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria Sunday and attempted to allay their concerns about a possible agreement with the Palestinian Authority (PA) regarding the final status of the Jordan Valley in a future permanent accord.

Abbas: No Jewish Presence in the Jordan Valley

Palestinian Authority head: Israel will be to blame if peace talks fail over its demand to keep Jewish soldiers stationed in the Jordan Valley.

In his latest attack of Israel,  Chairman Mahmoud Abbas warned on Tuesday that Israel would be to blame if ongoing peace talks collapsed over its demand to keep military forces in the Jordan Valley.

“We will not accept it, and if they (the talks) collapse, they (Israelis) will be the reason for the collapse, not us,” Abbas was quoted by AFP as having told the Baltic News Service during a visit to Lithuania. Continue Reading »

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) has been doing his utmost over the last several months to persuade U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the merits of his demand that Israel accept the 1967 lines as the basis for a future border before any negotiations can be resumed. Defense Minister Gives ‘OK’ to new PA City in Israel’s Jordan Valley

After reviewing the plans, the Defense Minister has given a green light to building a new Arab/Bedouin city which will appropriate 2,000 dunams of Israeli land.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon has given the green light to a plan to build a new Palestinian Authority Arab city which will take away 2,000 dunams of Israeli land, the Ma’ariv daily reported on Friday.

Gov’t ‘Stealing’ Jordan Valley Land for new PA City

Jordan Valley Council chief: We will fight to prevent the construction of a PA city on council lands.

David Alhiani, chairman of the Jordan Valley Regional Council, told Arutz Sheva in an interview Tuesday that Israel was set to lose the Valley – and it was all the fault of the government. The construction of a new Arab city in the Jordan Valley, as announced by the Civil Administration, will effectively close off a large portion of the Valley to Israelis, he said.

“The city will consist of over 1,100 lots, and will have housing for 10,000 people,” Alhiani said.
