Israel postpones UNESCO Jerusalem delegation’s visit at last moment

FM officials: PA broke agreement by manipulating what was planed as a purely professional UN visit and ‘politicized’ it.

 

 

Israel on Monday called off a planned visit by a delegation from UNESCO, the United Nation’s cultural organization, to inspect preservation work in Jerusalem’s Old City, saying that the Palestinians had “politicized” the delegation.

“The delegation as a delegation has been postponed,” a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

“The Palestinians violated all the agreements we had with UNESCO: that this was to be a purely professional, not a political visit,” he said.  The official said the Palestinians asked to introduce a “slew” of political elements into the visit, with PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki characterizing it as a fact-finding commission to investigate Israeli steps in Jerusalem.

The Palestinians are Stealing Rachel’s Tomb

Using deceit, the Palestinians over the past several years have succeeded in convincing UNESCO that Rachel’s Tomb is actually a mosque built to commemorate the Prophet Mohammed’s first muezzin.

Historical documentation & hundreds of thousands of Jews who remain loyal to Rachel’s Tomb continue to hinder the Palestinian’s attempt into turning it into a Muslim site.

It is doubtful whether any other place between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River illustrates the concept of self-defense that has trickled into Israel’s security mindset as well as Rachel’s Tomb. The formerly picturesque site is engraved in the memory of many people as a stone building with a dome on top and an ancient olive tree in front of it, on the road between Jerusalem and Hebron.

PA: Register Church of Nativity under ‘Palestine’

Palestinians to ask UN World Heritage Committee to register Bethlehem church as Palestinian heritage site.

For the first time in their history on Thursday, Palestinians have the right to act as a state before the World Heritage Committee and ask the UN body to register Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity under the name of Palestine.

The Palestinian Authority has an inventory list of 20 historical, religious, cultural and natural sites over the pre-1967 line that it wants the UN to register.

These range from the old town of Nablus to Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. No sites in Jerusalem are on the PA’s list at present.
