Arab protesters & IDF clash at West Bank funerals

Dozens of Palestinians threw stones at IDF soldiers on Thursday during the funerals of three Palestinians in the West Bank, Army Radio reported. A policeman was lightly wounded in Ramallah, and a CNN cameraman was lightly wounded in Hebron, according to sources.

Palestinian prisoners begin hunger strike after prisoner dies of cancer

As clashes erupt in Hebron, PA President Abbas says Israel responsible for death of 64-year-old Maysara Abuhamdieh.

Maysara Abuhamdieh, a 64-year-old security prisoner from Hebron, died Tuesday morning at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva. Following his death, Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces in Hebron, while security detainees in Israeli prisoners announced a three-day hunger strike. Security was beefed up in prisons in case of further unrest.

Hunger striking Palestinian prisoner Ayman Sharawna, has arrived in the Gaza Strip after reaching a deal with Israel stating he would be released from Prison and deported to the Gaza Strip for a period of 10 years went ahead.He received a hero’s welcome upon arrival.

Sharawna, a Hamas operative from the Dura village near Hebron was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to 38 years in prison after being convicted for laying the explosives in the Beersheba terror attack in which 18 people were wounded. Continue Reading »

PA accusation: Arab Collaborators murdered prisoner Jaradat

The PA Prisoners Affair Ministry reports that prisoner Jaradat was transferred to a cell with Palestinian ‘collaborators’ to elicit his confession.

The Palestinian Authority claimed Saturday that Arafat Jaradat, the 30-year-old Palestinian who died in Megiddo Prison last week, was killed by Palestinian “collaborators.”

The PA Prisoners Affairs Ministry said that Jaradat died two days after being transferred to a cell where “collaborators” were being held.

According to the ministry, Jaradat was moved to the cell so that the “collaborators” would be able to extract a confession from him after his Israeli interrogators failed to do so. Continue Reading »

25% of Terror Prisoners study at Hamas University

Israel’s prisons are a breeding ground for Hamas terrorists as 1 in 4 of Palestinian Authority prisoners get an education from Hamas university.

One-fourth of terrorists from Gaza, Judea and Samaria serving time in Israeli prisons are getting an education through Hamas, according to a report by the Hamas government in Gaza that was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

A Hamas project titled Jamat el-Ahrar (Sons of Freedom) allows prisoners to continue their studies in prison via Hamas.

Terrorists in Israel’s prisons were previously eligible for free studies in Israeli schools. In 2010, the number of inmates enrolled in the Open University stood at 270, of which 210 were classified as “security prisoners” jailed for terror-related offenses. Continue Reading »

The IDF and other security forces are on high alert Monday in Judea and Samaria, ready to react to any violence that accompanies the funeral of a terrorist prisoner who died in an Israeli jail.

The Palestinian Authority has no right to demand that Israel release terrorists it is holding, MK Ayelet Shaked of Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) wrote on Sunday. “We must not become confused by terminology,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “The ‘prisoners’ in question are not regular criminals, but terrorists.”

Palestinian hunger striking prisoner jailed for 8 months

Protesters at a Palestinian demonstration in support of prisoners on a hunger strike clashed on Friday with Israeli troops and Border Guard officers.

Stone-throwing PalistaniansThe IDF said that during the protest, held at the Bituniya crossing near Ofer Prison, about 200 Palestinians threw rocks at the soldiers who responded with tear gas during the rally in the West Bank.

UN ‘Concerned’ For Imprisoned Hunger Striking Arab Terrorists

A UN official has voiced concern over the health & well-being of hunger-striking Palestinian Authority terrorist prisoners.

A United Nations official on Wednesday expressed concern about the well-being of Palestinian Authority Arab terrorist detainees in Israeli prisons and in particular about the condition of hunger striker Samer Issawi, AFP reports.

A UN statement quoted in the report said that Humanitarian Coordinator James W. Rawley met in Ramallah with the PA’s prisoner affairs minister, Issa Qaraqe.

During the meeting, Rawley “expressed the United Nations’ continued concern about Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody,” according to the statement.

“They discussed the situation of four Palestinian detainees currently on hunger strike and, in particular, the critical health condition of one Palestinian detainee, Samer Issawi, who has been on hunger strike for more than 200 days,” it said, according to AFP. Continue Reading »

University Professors to State: Permit Terrorists Free College Courses

A group of lecturers from the Open University call on the State of Israel to allow terrorists to study in university program while incarcerated in prison.

Dozens of lecturers from the Open University have signed an ad calling on the State of Israel to allow terrorists serving time in Israeli prisons to study in universities while in prison.

Another Hunger Striking Terrorist Released by Israel

Israeli authorities on Monday released former hunger striker Hasan Safadi, the Palestinian Authority prisoners minister told the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news.

Minister Issa Qaraqe said Safadi had been freed from Hadarim jail in central Israel.

Safadi, who stopped a 93-day hunger strike in September, is one of two prisoners who ended a hunger strike after assurances they would be freed at the end of their current administrative detention term.

Mahmoud Abbas: Israel blackmailing PA with the Palestinian prisoner issue

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday accused Israel of “blackmailing” the PA leadership on the issue of Palestinian prisoners.

He also called for an emergency meeting of Islamic countries to discuss Israeli “aggression” against the Aksa Mosque in Jerusalem.
