Israel Qatar is helping Israel avoid another Gaza war by funneling relief money to impoverished Palestinians, with Washington’s blessing, a Qatari diplomat said on Thursday, in an effort to demonstrate Doha’s distance from Islamist Gaza rulers Hamas.

Arab-Israeli newspaper reports Hamas made their engagement in negotiations conditional upon the re-release of 60 Palestinians prisoners who were first released as part of the ‘Shalit deal’ but later arrested once again. Israel agreed, but insists they be relocated to Qatar or Gaza, a condition Hamas outright rejected.

In attempts to reestablish relations with Cairo, Qatar will try to stop Hamas’ incitement against Egypt, as well as end Gaza’s illegal transfer of weapons to Sinai terrorist groups.
Doha has informed the Hamas leadership that it intends to temporarily stop its support for the Gaza-based organization in an attempt to pressure it to change its policies vis-a-vis Egypt, according to Al-Jarida, a Kuwaiti daily newspaper.
