Bezons Mayor defends honoring PFLP Assassin of MK Rehavam Ze’evi

The French mayor called critics’ reactions “hateful,” adding, “It strengthens our resolve to defend the noble and just Palestinian cause.”

A French mayor whose municipality recently honored the Palestinian murderer of an Israeli minister defended the move and accused critics of “hatred” and “complicity in occupation.”

Mayor Dominique Lesparre of the Paris suburb of Bezons said in a statement released Wednesday that his municipality’s vote last month to name Majdi Al-Rimawi an honorary resident was part of a “tradition of peace, solidarity and cooperation with the Palestinian people.”

An Israeli court convicted Rimawi, a member of the terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and three others for the 2001 murder of Knesset member Rehavam Ze’evi in Jerusalem. Continue Reading »

French Town Honors Israeli Minister’s Palestinian Assassin

Bezons’ Mayor grants Majdi al-Rimawi, who Assassinated Rechavam Ze’evi, with “honorary citizenship.”

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) has slammed the decision by Bezons, a suburb of Paris, to grant terrorist murderer Majdi al-Rimawi ”honorary citizenship.”

Rechavam Ze’eviAl-Rimawi was sentenced by an Israeli court to life imprisonment plus 80 years for participating in the planning and murder of Israeli Minister Rechavam Zeevi in 2001. The inscription on the plaque prepared by the municipality of Bezons refers to Al-Rimawi as a “political prisoner.”
