Israel vetoes UN Security Council’s plan to access Palestinian areas

Following the UN Security Council decision to visit to the Palestinian ruled areas they claim for a future independent Islamic state, UN Ambassador Anatolio Ndong Mba was quoted saying, ‘Israel categorically refused the council visit.’

Israel has refused to allow the UN Security Council to visit the territory that the Palestinians claim for a future independent state, UN diplomats said Wednesday.

Last week, the council authorized Its current president, Equitorial Guinea’s UN Ambassador Anatolio Ndong Mba, to consult the Israel and Palestinian ambassadors about a trip.

Mandate Ends: Netanyahu Sends European Hevron Observer Force Home

TIPH, the international observer force originally mandated in 1994 to ‘observe & document’ breaches of international humanitarian law, are to leave Hevron after incessant confrontations with Israeli security personnel and residents.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided Monday night not to renew the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH).

“We will not allow the continued presence of an international force acting against us,” Netanyahu said.

The organization will be forced to leave Hevron as a result of Netanyahu’s decision.

TIPH is a group of European civilian observers who have operated in Hevron since 1994. Continue Reading »
