Meet Saki and Noriki – Israel’s new animated ambassadors to Japan. Israel’s embassy in Tokyo recently launched いいね!イスラエル or ‘Israel, Like!’, a new web series of the anime genre, in the hopes of enticing Japanese tourists to visit the holy land.

130,000 Israelis travel northwards for Rosh Hashanah holiday

Hundreds of extra police were called to cover key traffic areas while some 38,000 vehicles jam Israel’s motorways north with even more expected into the evening.

Israel’s roads and highways withstood heavy traffic Wednesday afternoon, as families travelled great distances to meet their relatives for celebrations to welcome the Jewish year 5775.

According to authorities, some 130,000 travelers took to the open road from central Israel to the north in 38,000 vehicles, headed for Rosh Hashanah celebrations of honey and apples.

Taglit-Birthright: The most successful Jewish program in the world

 

In Birthright’s 13 years, the program brought more than 350,000 participants to Israel from 64 different countries & infused $825 million into Israel’s economy.

 

Since it was launched in 2000, the Taglit-Birthright program has injected more than $825 million into the Israeli economy, according to the findings of an independent study conducted by the global accounting firm Ernst & Young, which were published on Wednesday.

The State of Israel contributes $35 million a year to the program’s $110 million budget. The rest of the funding comes from private philanthropists, most prominently casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, the Jewish federations of North America, Keren Hayesod and the Jewish Agency. Continue Reading »

Christians from Nazareth Launch Tourism Effort & New Website

   

Pro-Israel Christians from Nazareth seeking to construct Giant Jesus statue to attract tourists & support

Christians from Nazareth, many of them belonging to the same group that encourages young “Arab” Christians to join the Israeli army, have launched a new website and effort to draw tourism to their city.

The name of the movement is Deglei Habrith (Flags of the Covenant), and its logo features two intertwined flags bearing the Cross and the Star of David.

Among the group’s stated goals is the construction of a large statue of Jesus at Mount Precipice (think Rio de Janeiro), the site where Luke 4:29–30 records a mob attempting to shove Jesus off a cliff. Continue Reading »

What Irks Israeli Tourists the Most?

The Tourism Ministry has received 571 complaints regarding tourism services in Israel between January-August 2012. Of these, 493 (86.5%) were made by Israelis and only 78 (13.5%) came from foreign visitors.

Former Birthright tour organizer now a provider for interfaith groups

A rabbi, a bishop and an imam walk into a synagogue. It sounds like the setup for a joke, but it happened at Bavat Ayin Congregation in Rosh Ha’ayin last Friday evening when a group of 30 Jews, Christians and Muslims from New Jersey came to town.
