UK-based newspaper: Kerry Threatened Abbas by Imposing Sanctions Over UN Bid

Palestinian sources tell London Arabic based daily that Kerry threatened PA president with financial & political sanctions should he turn to UNSC.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry threatened to impose sanctions on the Palestinian Authority (PA) if it goes ahead with unilateral moves, such as asking the United Nations Security Council to set a deadline for Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria, the London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper reported on Monday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, official sources confirmed to the newspaper that Kerry called PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and warned him against taking any unilateral measures, threatening to impose financial and political sanctions on the PA. Continue Reading »

Pew Survey Poll: American support for Israel at near record highs

Survey demonstrates massive American support for Israel.

U.S. Hispanics & Blacks sympathize with Israel more than twice as much as with Palestinians.

 

The US public’s support for Israel is at near-record levels, according to a Pew Research Center poll, despite the current violence and images of the destruction in the Gaza Strip playing out nightly on television screens across America.

Furthermore, the poll – carried out from July 8 to July 14 – indicates that support for Israel among blacks and Hispanics – demographic groups to which Israeli advocacy groups are increasingly reaching out – is more than double what it is for the Palestinians.

Senate vote unanimously passed calls US to back Israel in case of Iranian strike

Senate Vote passes 99-0 on resolution favoring US support to Israel if it were forced to defend itself from an Iranian nuclear threat.

WASHINGTON – The Democratic-led Senate voted 99-0 – with one senator not present – on Wednesday night, on a resolution that the United States should support Israel if it were forced to defend itself from an Iranian nuclear threat. The measure also urged Obama to strengthen enforcement of existing sanctions on Iran.

Earlier Wednesday, a US House of Representatives committee approved legislation seeking to impose tighter sanctions on Iran, the latest congressional effort to slow development of the Islamic Republic’s disputed nuclear program.

IRS director fired by Obama over targeting pro-Israel & conservative groups

The Jewish Press reported last week that a Jewish group without any focus on Israel was “the recipient of bizarre and highly inappropriate questions about Israel.”

 

U.S. President Barack Obama ousted the acting commissioner of the federal tax agency Wednesday, moving forcefully to quell a growing uproar over revelations that conservative and pro-Israel groups were improperly targeted for scrutiny when they filed for tax-exempt status.
