The findings were discovered last week, while excavation work was conducted at a construction site of a real estate project for doctors’ clinics. A sign indicating that archeological excavations are at work was placed at the site’s entrance.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai wrote on his Facebook page: “A piece of history was uncovered at Ramat HaHayal during construction works at the site, where a well dated to the Byzantine period (about 1,500 years ago) was discovered.”

The firm Sufrin Group that is building the real-estate project said: “Artifacts were discovered while construction work was conducted, and as a result the Israel Antiques Authority was invited to the location.

“The area (where the well was uncovered) is a small area out of the total area of the project, Authority officials are examining the findings, but work at the site is continuing as usual.”

The project, which is 16,000 square meters in size, is expected to include 7 floors of clinics for doctors and a commercial floor.
