Not realizing the extent of his wounds the victim of a stabbing attack in Jerusalem tried to drive himself to the hospital.
The victim of a stabbing Wednesday afternoon at Liberty Bell Park (Gan Hapa’amonim) in Jerusalem tried to drive himself to the hospital after the attack, not fully aware of how seriously he was wounded.
The man, age 40, was discovered in the Katamon neighborhood either in or near his car, ready to drive himself to a doctor to get medical treatment.
Medics said he was not fully aware of the seriousness of his injuries at the time. He was treated by Magen David Adom paramedics before being rushed to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center.
The victim was listed in serious condition with stab wounds in his back and hand. He told police his attacker was of Arabic ethnicity. It is not yet clear whether he was the victim of a terror attack, or whether the stabbing was criminally motivated.
Police threw a dragnet around the area, and stopped a vehicle that may have been carrying a possible suspect, according to a local source.
“Police units continue to search the Jerusalem area for suspects behind the stabbing,” said Mickey Rosenfeld, Israel Police spokesman.
A second stabbing attack was reported at around the same time at the entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City at the Damascus Gate. Police continue to search the area for suspects. It is not clear whether the two attacks were related.
