Attendees were waving Palestinian flags, crying out “We will sacrifice our lives for Al-Aqsa.”

This year, participants were also expressing their support of the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Head of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Raed Salah, attended the rally, as did other Arab leaders. The Islamic Movement’s deputy chief, Sheikh Kamel Khatib, said: “We will continue to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and we deliver a warning to anyone that intends to do it any harm.”
Ali Mahaid, an Islamic Movement activist, added: “We’ve come here to say that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is still in danger and we must make an effort to make the right moves against every Knesset member and minister trying to harm the mosque.

Regarding developments in Egypt, Khatib noted: “We condemn the maltreatment the Muslim Brotherhood has been receiving in Egypt and we will continue to stress that Morsi is the leader of Egypt who was chosen by his people in a democratic manner.

Ahmed Masrawi, a resident of Tira, said: “Every year I attend this rally, but this time there was a special event and I felt as if I were in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood from all these Rabaa Al-Adawiya flags (place of pro-Brotherhood protest in Cairo) and the picture of President Morsi.”

Sheikh Khatib also addressed the issue of Palestinian security prisoners, urging their release.
