Israeli security personnel announced Monday that they had arrested Bachar Attalah Samiach Sa’ad, a Hamas terrorists who planned several terror attacks against Israelis. Sa’ad was arrested in a joint action by the Shabak, Israel Police and IDF.

Sa’ad, a resident of a village near Ramallah, planned to kidnap an IDF soldier, amid a shooting attack he planned. His handler was Hasham Abed Alkhader Ibrahim Hajaz, a Hamas terrorist who was deported from Israel after he was released from an Israeli prison in the deal to free kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

Hajaz had been sentenced to 10 life terms in prison for terrorist activities he planned and participated in 2001-2003, during the height of the second intifada. He was directly responsible for the murders of ten Israeli civilians and soldiers.

Hajaz, originally from Gaza, was released on condition that he stay out of Israel. He currently lives in Qatar, but he met Sa’ad in Jordan earlier this year, and instructed him on methods to carry out shooting attacks against Israelis, and how to kidnap an IDF soldier. Hajaz also taught Sa’ad how to recruit terrorists and build a terror cell.

Sa’ad had been set to leave for Sudan, where he was to undergo terror training. He was arrested before he could leave. He told interrogators that he was supposed to receive firearms in order to carry out the attack, to be supplied by Hajaz.

Investigators said that the saga of Sa’ad and Hajaz was becoming all too familiar, as terrorists released in the deal to free Shalit have been active in trying to carry out more terrorist attacks against Israel.
