The IDF confirmed targeting a sniper cell, saying that the operation was unrelated to Monday’s terror attack on the Israel-Egypt border, and came in response to recent sniper fire.

At around noon a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip towards the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. No injuries or damage were immediately reported.

Meanwhile, Palestinian media outlets reported that IDF bulldozers were spotted clearing an area near the Gaza border, west of Erez crossing and adjacent to the location of the attack.
