The Weizmann Institute of Science in the central city of Rehovot was the only institute located outside the US to be included in the ranking conducted by the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University in the Netherlands.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking is based solely on numeric indicators instead of question-based surveys.

Some 19 percent of the research papers published by Weizmann researchers were ranked in the top ten percent of scientific papers for impact, according to the report.

The Weizmann Institute has risen in the Leiden Ranking from 19th place some ten years ago to it’s current 10th spot.

The report said that 2.4% of the Institute’s scientific articles are ranked in the first percentile for highest scientific impact, and 64.7% were in the top half for the impact factor.
