Iranian leader at UN: Iran is being threatened by ‘uncivilized Zionists’

Addressing the UNGA, Ahmadinejad says Israel’s ‘threat to resort to military action a bitter example of intimidation by nuclear weapons.’

Iran is under threat of military action from “uncivilized Zionists,” a clear reference to Israel, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday, saying that such threats from big powers are designed to force nations into submission.

“Continued threat by the uncivilized Zionists to resort to military action against our great nation is a clear example of this bitter reality,” Ahmadinejad said in a 33-minute speech before the UN General Assembly.

Israel and the United States have refused to rule out the possibility of an armed strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, which the West suspects are intended to produce nuclear bombs but which Tehran says are for solely peaceful purposes. Continue Reading »

Ban Ki-Moon slams Iran leaders’ anti-Israel remarks

UN chief condemns Iran’s supreme leader & president for ‘inflammatory’ verbal attacks, says he is ‘dismayed by the remarks threatening Israel’s existence’

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon sharply criticized Iran‘s supreme leader and president on Friday, describing their latest verbal attacks on Israel as “offensive and inflammatory.”

Many thousands of Iranians shouted “Death to America, death to Israel” during state-organized protests on Friday and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told them there was no place for the Jewish state in a future Middle East.

“The Secretary-General is dismayed by the remarks threatening Israel’s existence attributed over the last two days to the Supreme Leader and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the UN press office said. Continue Reading »

Will Obama Dine with Ahmadinejad & Morsi at upcoming U.N. General Assembly?

General-Secretary Ban Ki-moon has invited Obama to join Ahmadinejad and Morsi at a ‘VIP lunch’ on the opening day of the U.N. General Assembly in New York City.

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at next month’s U.N. General Assembly in New York, diplomatic sources say.

In addition, U.N. General-Secretary Ban Ki-moon has invited President Obama to join the two leaders at a VIP lunch on Sept. 25, the opening day of the General Assembly, The Washington Times reported.

Iranian official Mohammad Reza Forqani dismissed the speculations saying, “Publishing such a report by the Washington Times daily is a media commotion,” the Fars News Agency reported. Continue Reading »

Speaking in advance of International Qods Day, set this year for August 17, Ahmadinejad repeated his annual litany of hate for the Jewish State in a meeting with ambassadors and embassy personnel of Islamic nations in Tehran, according to the official state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), quoting from a statement posted on the website of his presidential office. Speaking to locals during a tour, the Iranian leader said that regional countries do not need to purchase arms in order to “fight the Zionist regime of Israel.”

Ahmadinejad surpasses previous acts of chutzpah and tells German TV the Holocaust “was a colonialist plan that resulted from a lie.”

 

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has surpassed previous acts of chutzpah and tells German television the Holocaust “was a colonialist plan that resulted from a lie” that Israel exploits to suppress Palestinian Authority Arabs.

Speaking through an interpreter to Germany’s ZDF public television, Ahmadinejad asserted that Jews “never were rulers of this land. They made a story named Holocaust, and the Palestinians have to pay the price for it.”

He repeatedly called Israel “an artificial state.”

The World Jewish Congress (WJC) urged Germany to recall its ambassador to Iran to protest the statements in the interview, which also was posted on the television network’s’ website. Continue Reading »
