Palestinians students brawl over Abbas’ attendance at Peres funeral in Jerusalem

 

Al-Quds University students affiliated with Fatah were attacked by students affiliated with both Hamas & the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), for supporting Abbas’ participation at Shimon Peres’ funeral.

The Palestinian news agency “Safa” reported on violent confrontations in Ramallah and Tulkarem today as a result of demonstrations against PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ participation at former President Shimon Peres’ funeral.

Fatah-affiliated students clashed with students affiliated with Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) at Al-Quds University in Tulkarem.

The thousands of visitors flocking to Bethlehem for Christmas eve on Thursday, including hundreds of Gazan worshippers, will be met with a new addition to the Christmas decor: a martyr tree in the town’s main square.

Al-Quds medical doctors caught in fight over Jerusalem

 

While Israeli court ruling allows Al-Quds medical school graduates to take qualifying examinations enabling them to practice medicine in Israel, Health Ministry does not promise decision will become policy.

Like dozens of other Palestinian doctors, Nassar has been caught in the political battle between Israel and the Palestinians over east Jerusalem. 1st Time Ever: Palestinian students visit Auschwitz in organized visit

Visit to Nazi death camp is aimed to teach Israeli & Palestinian students about the other side’s suffering, in effort to see how empathy can facilitate reconciliation.

 

A group of 30 Palestinian students arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau on Thursday, in what is believed to be the first organized visit by Palestinian students to a Nazi death camp.

The students are spending several days in Kraków and Oświęcim guided by two Jewish Holocaust survivors.

A news blackout on the trip was requested by the organizers.

Al-Quds U. president resigns a few days after Hamas rally

A similar rally in support of Islamic Jihad on the Al-Quds campus in November led to the suspension of ties between Al-Quds University & Brandeis University.

Sari Nusseibeh, the president of the Palestinian Al-Quds University, resigned three days after a rally in support of Hamas at its eastern Jerusalem campus.

Nusseibeh will step down at the end of the academic year, according to an announcement on the university’s website. The announcement said that Nusseibeh announced his decision on Wednesday at a meeting of the university’s board of trustees, since he has reached the retirement age of 65.

Just over a week since an American university severed ties with the Hamas-linked Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, after pictures emerged showing a Nazi-style on-campus rally by Islamic Jihad in November, further evidence of fascist-style events at the flagship Palestinian Arab institution has emerged.

Video footage, posted by MEMRI (the Middle East Media Research Institute), shows clips from two separate rallies at Al-Quds University, in which Islamic Jihad members, cheered on by other students, take part in a live performance at which they brandish imitation assault rifles and black Islamist flags, and give Nazi salutes. Despite Nazi similarities, Bard College decides to stay with Al-Quds

Bard College in New York, says it will maintain affiliation with Al-Quds despite Nazi style rally held by Islamic Jihad.

The US university with the closest ties to Al-Quds University, Bard College in New York, has announced it will continue its partnership, despite two other American colleges severing ties with the Palestinian school.

The decision by Bard – announced late on Friday in a statement to The Jerusalem Post – came only days after Brandeis University and Syracuse University formally ended their ties with Al- Quds, after a rally held by Islamic Jihad on the Al-Quds campus, which its president, Sari Nusseibeh, did not initially condemn. Brandeis U cuts partnership with Palestinian university after its Nazi-style rally

 

Brandeis University found Palestinian demonstrators cheerfully waving Nazi flags & offering traditional Nazi salute as the reason for the suspension.

Brandeis University has suspended its partnership with the Palestinian Al-Quds University.

Brandeis University President Frederick Lawrence made the announcement Monday, saying the university will re-evaluate the relationship in the future. The universities have been sister institutions since 1998.

The decision was made in light of recent events at the university, which has campuses in Jerusalem, Abu-Dis and Al-Bireh, including a November 5 Nazi-style demonstration at the main campus.

During the demonstration, protesters marched in black military gear with fake automatic weapons while waving flags and offering the traditional Nazi salute.
