Canadian Gov’t appeals Federal court ruling on ‘settlement’ wines

The Government of Canada announced intention to appeal a court ruling that wine produced by Jews in Judea and Samaria cannot be labeled as ‘Made in Israel’.

Jewish groups in Canada on Friday welcomed an announcement by the Government of Canada that it will appeal a court ruling that wine originating from Judea and Samaria cannot be labeled as products made in Israel.

In July, Canada’s Federal Court ruled that it was “false, misleading and deceptive” to label wines made in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria as a “Product of Israel.”

The court had been asked to rule in the case of David Kattenburg, the child of Holocaust survivors who disagreed with a decision by the Canadian government’s Food Inspection Agency to allow the labels. Continue Reading »

Pro-Israel advocacy group wins court case against BDS at University of Ontario

 

#BDSfail: Invoking a passed BDS motion, Ontario university’s student association banned a pro-Israel North American advocacy organization from participating in an event last year. The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal found the student association guilty of discrimination.

A pro-Israel North American advocacy organization announced on Thursday that it had won a legal victory after an Ontario university’s student association banned it from participating in an event last year, due to its connection with Israel.

The event in question was Social Justice Week, held at University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Robert Walker, national director of Hasbara Fellowships Canada, had responded to an open invitation for community groups to participate. Continue Reading »

Canada’s Federal Court rules Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah is Terror Organization

Canada basically agreed with contentions that Israel has no “Peace Partners”: “Fatah did not entirely disassociate itself from acts of terrorism against the Israeli State even after renouncing armed struggle…”

Canada’s Federal Court last week upheld a decision that basically labeled Israel’s purported “peace partners” in the Palestinian Authority as terrorists.

Earlier, the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada had denied asylum to Akram Muslih Anteer, a Palestinian man living in Sweden, because of his connection to Fatah. Continue Reading »
