eBay ignores serious security flaw exposed by Israeli cybersecurity firm

 

Despite being alerted by Israeli firm of flaw leaving 160 million worldwide  users vulnerable to malware & phishing attacks, eBay says it “has no plans to fix” the problem.

Israeli cybersecurity firm Check Point revealed Tuesday that is has discovered a serious flaw in online e-commerce giant eBay’s security, allowing hackers and cyber criminals to use malicious code to target users and steal their online information.

According to Channel 2 News, eBay currently has 160 million registered users worldwide, all of which are at risk.

Check Point, which posted its discovery on the company blog, believes that unless eBay acts to rectify this vulnerability immediately, “eBay’s customers will continue to be exposed to potential phishing attacks and data theft.”

Rare Hebrew Bible bought on eBay for $7,000 lost in mail

A rare 16th-century Bible written in Hebrew was sold to a New York man who reports it never arrived, despite contrary information from postal authorities alleging it was delivered.

A rare 16th-century, eight-volume Hebrew Bible sold on eBay earlier this month for $7,000 has gone missing.

Gene Albert, a Virginia artifacts dealer sold the bible to Jacob Gestetner, a resident of Monsey, New York, home to a large Orthodox Jewish population. Gestetner claims he never received it despite postal tracking information showing it was delivered Oct. 10, according to the Journal News.

The bible set dates to the 1540s and was part of the collection of Andrew Fletcher, a 17th-century Scottish politician renowned for his private library, according to the paper. Continue Reading »

eBay halts bid for ‘Jewish Spot in Heaven’ at $100,000 citing rule violation

eBay was flooded with bids for ‘My Portion in Olam Habaah (Heaven) offered by a Jewish man from New Jersey.
Within just a few hours the price was nearly $100,000, but then eBay closed the site down.
