Lawyer accuses Hamas of murdering 16 Egyptian soldiers

An Egyptian lawyer has accused the Hamas government in Gaza of masterminding the murder of 16 Egyptian border guards last August.

On Thursday, Samir Sabry filed a complaint with the prosecutor general, claiming Hamas had ordered the deadly attack on a guard post in Sinai on 5 August.

He also said there were 32 people involved in planning and executing the assault.

Egyptian Security seizes arms shipment en route to Hamas via northern Sinai

Palestinian, Ma’an news agency cites Egyptian security official saying that captured truck held Katyusha rockets and high-grade explosives.

 

Egyptian forces seized a truck carrying arms en route to the northern Sinai, a report by Palestinian news agency Ma’an said on Tuesday, adding that the vehicle carried Grad-type katyusha rockets as well as high-grade weapons.

Armed militants stage drive-by shooting near police station in Northern Sinai; Egyptian army resumes 2nd day of crackdown

Egyptian police clashed with armed men in northern Sinai’s main town al-Arish, state television reported on Thursday, a day after security forces began a crackdown on Islamist militants in the region.

“Clashes resumed between armed men and police forces in front of police station number two in al-Arish,” Nile News television reported, citing its correspondent there.

Palestinian news agency Maan reported that Egyptian police officers were taken by surprise when gunmen opened fire at the station from a moving vehicle and escaped the scene. Continue Reading »
