Russian news giant RT recently released a video it says shows Eli Cohen, the famous Israeli spy, walking in a Damascus street. The video, unclear and no more than a few seconds in length, has generated headlines throughout the region, both in Arabic and in Hebrew. Intel to invest $10B on new Israel plant creating 1,000 new hi-tech jobs

Beating both Ireland or Singapore in the bid to host new Intel plant, Israel dedicates 90 acres for new plant in Kiryat Gat, creating 1,000 new jobs for the US technology company’s $10-billion investment.

The US technology company Intel Corporation has announced it is making a $10-billion investment in a new plant in Israel, that will create around 1,000 jobs over the next few years.

Intel Vice President Daniel Benatar and Intel Israel CEO Yaniv Garty informed Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Economic Minister Eli Cohen on Monday that the company’s management decided to make the huge investment in Israel instead of in Ireland or Singapore, which competed against Israel for the establishment of the new plant. 53 yrs after being hung as spy, Eli Cohen’s remains are to return to Israel

In a Kuwaiti newspaper report on Syria, the remains of Israeli spy Eli Cohen will be returned to his family for burial in Israel in exchange for military flexibility with Assad’s regime on Israel’s northern border.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, considered one of the most reliable in the Arab world, reported Thursday that Israel is very close to achieving a return of the remains of legendary Israeli spy Eli Cohen to Israel.

British Report: Syria’s Assad asked Israel’s support for Alawite State

 

UK’s The Guardian: Syria’s President Assad asked a mediator to approach Israel’s ex-Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in 2012 with a request that Jerusalem not oppose the formation of an Alawite enclave.


In response Lieberman asked for information on Ron Arad’s whereabouts & the return the remains of spy Eli Cohen.

According to a report in The Guardian on Monday, Syrian President Bashar Assad sent a message to Avigdor Lieberman in 2012, when the latter was serving as foreign minister, asking Israel’s position on the establishment of an Alawite enclave in northwestern Syria.

The Guardian reported that a mediator — a well-known diplomatic figure — is understood to have been asked by Assad to approach Lieberman late last year with a request that Israel not stand in the way of attempts to form an Alawite state, which could have meant moving some displaced communities into the Golan Heights area.
