Elon Musk posts selfie from Masada: “Live free or die”

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla & SpaceX, makes unannounced trip to Israel, climbs Masada, and enjoys some drinks at a Jerusalem pub.

South African-born American-Canadian billionaire Elon Musk made an unannounced visit to Israel that included climbing Masada and a jaunt to a Jerusalem pub.

Musk is the CEO of electric car manufacturer Tesla, and is the founder of aerospace manufacturer SpaceX.

“Paid respects to Masada earlier today. Live free or die,” Musk wrote, under the picture he posted to Instagram Tuesday on Masada. The post received more than half a million likes.

In addition, Musk uploaded a video at the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, and wrote: “Last night in Jerusalem and the best menu ever.” Continue Reading »

Israel scheduled to be 4th country to land vehicle on the moon

 

Following the U.S., China & the U.S.S.R., Israel’s SpaceIL team for Google’s Lunar XPRIZE competition plans to land a dishwasher-sized vehicle in late 2017, to hop across moon’s surface (rather than rove like others) for a $20 million prize.

Israel is scheduled to become the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon, with a launch planned for the end of 2017 by billionaire businessman Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.

The scheduled launch is also set to send several satellites into space, but the Israeli spacecraft is the only one designed to continue to the moon. Continue Reading »
