#BDSfail: Brussels Airlines returns Israeli snack to menu after public protests

 

After thousands took to social media to expressed their outrage over the carrier’s capitulation to BDS pressure to remove the Achva halva snack, the Belgian Airline’s CEO pledged to keep Israeli products on its menus.

Brussels Airlines announced Monday that it will reintroduce a popular Israeli snack to its menu. The item was removed from the Belgian carrier’s in-flight dessert options in July following pressure by a Palestinian group associated with the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.

The airline had allegedly decided to take the Achva brand halva, an Israeli sesame snack, produced in a factory located in the Barkan Industrial Park in Judea and Samaria, off its menu following pressure from the Palestine Solidarity Movement, a group that often encourages the boycott of Israeli products. Brussels Airlines acquiesced to BDS, decides to stop serving Israeli halva

 

Upon learning from the Palestinian Solidarity Movement that the Israeli Achva brand halva being served on its flight from Israel to Brussels was produced on “illegally occupied land in the West Bank” the airline quietly capitulated saying “we decided to change desserts.”

Belgian carrier Brussels Airlines has stopped handing out Ahva brand halva snacks on flights following a request by the Palestine Solidarity Movement.The snack is produced in the Barkan industrial park in the West Bank on land the organization claims is “illegally occupied.”

Brussels Airlines boycotting Israeli made halva

The halva snack was discovered by a Palestine Solidarity Movement activist who was travelling from Ben Gurion Interantional Airport to Brussels and saw the product as a dessert option, realized it was produced in Israel, and told fellow activists to take action.
