BEIRUT – The leader of Lebanese guerrilla movement Hezbollah said his group would stay in the Syrian war “to the end of the road” and bring victory to its ally President Bashar Assad.

Hassan Nasrallah, head of the militant Shi’ite Muslim group, said in a televised speech on Saturday Syria and Lebanon were under threat from radical Sunni Islamists.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Tuesday that Syrian rebels will not be able to defeat President Bashar Assad’s regime militarily, strongly suggesting that Syria’s “real friends” including his Iranian-backed militant group would intervene on the government’s side if the need arises.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday night along with other top Lebanese leaders to conclude his three-day visit to the country.

The Russian ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zaspikin, also took part in the meeting, which dealt with the unstable situation in Lebanon and Syria, according to a report in the Lebanese Daily Star.
Hezbollah’s Al-Manar website reported that Ammar Mousawi, the group’s official responsible for international relations, was also in attendance.
Lebanon‘s Hezbollah condemned on Friday a call by U.S. President Barack Obama for the militant Shi’ite group to be designated a terrorist organization following a bomb attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria last year.

The Lebanon NOW news website reported Tuesday that a new political movement is gathering followers right in the Hezbollah stronghold of Beirut‘s southern suburb.

A different report from Lebanon claimed that Nasrallah was flown to Iran after he was wounded in an attack by Syrian rebels during a meeting he was attending.

The speech came after Bulgaria released its findings of a probe into the attack last week, finding that Hezbollah’s military wing was behind the bombing. Five Israelis and a Bulgarian bus driver were killed in the terror attack.

BEIRUT: Hamas has the capacity to engage militarily in a ground operation with Israel, should the Jewish State decide to launch one, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said over the weekend.

“I affirm to you that even in a ground operation by Israel, the resistance in Gaza, thank God, has sufficient capabilities, will and plans which were formulated after the 2008 war to fill in gaps, [to face Israel],” Nasrallah said Saturday during a televised speech on the third day of Ashura.
Arab countries must withhold oil from the US to force them to end support for Israel’s “aggression” in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Thursday night according to the Lebanon Now online news agency.

“The US can, if it wants to, stop the aggression on Gaza by making a simple phone call,” Nasrallah said. “Arabs should exert pressure by decreasing the amount of oil exported, or by increasing the price of oil, thus, the economies of Western countries would be threatened and pressure would [force] the US and Israel to stop the aggression on Gaza.”
Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Monday described the wave of violence in the Gaza Strip as a test for the “Arab Spring nations,” saying it will be a tough question for Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, Lebanese news site Naharnet reported.

Nasrallah also described Hezbollah’s unmanned aerial vehicle, shot down by Israel last month, as part of the group’s deterrence strategy. “We have reached a point where we forced the enemy (Israel) to acknowledge the deterrence force created by the Resistance (Hezbollah) in Lebanon,” according to the report.
