Nasrallah promoses Hezbollah victory for Assad

BEIRUT – The leader of Lebanese guerrilla movement Hezbollah said his group would stay in the Syrian war “to the end of the road” and bring victory to its ally President Bashar Assad.

Hassan Nasrallah, head of the militant Shi’ite Muslim group, said in a televised speech on Saturday Syria and Lebanon were under threat from radical Sunni Islamists.

Russian sends deputy FM to meet with Nasrallah

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday night along with other top Lebanese leaders to conclude his three-day visit to the country.

The Russian ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zaspikin, also took part in the meeting, which dealt with the unstable situation in Lebanon and Syria, according to a report in the Lebanese Daily Star.

Hezbollah’s Al-Manar website reported that Ammar Mousawi, the group’s official responsible for international relations, was also in attendance.

The Lebanon NOW news website reported Tuesday that a new political movement is gathering followers right in the Hezbollah stronghold of Beirut‘s southern suburb.

Nasrallah leaves bunker to Tehran for cancer treatment

 

According to “The Voice of Lebanon” report,  the Hezbollah leader’s health deteriorated due to cancer-related complications, but a different source reported Nasrallah was wounded in an attack by Syrian rebels.

Nasrallah’s deputy, Naim Kassem, is reportedly assuming command.

Nasrallah urges Arab oil embargo on US for supporting Gaza violence

“The US can, if it wants to, stop the aggression on Gaza by making a simple phone call,” Nasrallah said. “Arabs should exert pressure by decreasing the amount of oil exported, or by increasing the price of oil, thus, the economies of Western countries would be threatened and pressure would [force] the US and Israel to stop the aggression on Gaza.”
