As deputy commissioner (one rank below the national police chief) Gamal Hakroosh is now the highest-ranking Arab in the force when Arab Muslims generally, are less integrated into Israel’s security forces, and those who do serve are often viewed as traitors.

The Israel Police promoted Gamal Hakroosh, an Arab police officer, to the rank of deputy commissioner on Wednesday, making him the highest-ranking Muslim ever to serve in the force.

Israeli President makes history by attending massacre ceremony

Local residents hope for formal apology as President Rivlin becomes 1st sitting Israeli president to attend & participate at Kafr Qasimin’s annual massacre ceremony.

Reuven Rivlin became the first sitting Israeli president on Sunday to participate in an annual ceremony marking the Kafr Qasim massacre. “It was an atrocious massacre. A severe crime was perpetrated here. It is a dark and irregular episode in the relations between us, the Jews and Arabs who live here.”

Leaked gov’t document to Hebrew daily reveals Israel opened a new economic office in an unnamed Gulf State

A government document leaked by the Hebrew press on Sunday revealed that Israel had recently opened a new diplomatic mission in an unnamed Persian Gulf state.

The document was prepared for the Foreign Ministry as part of its economic plan for 2013-2014, and was reported on by the left-leaning daily Ha’aretz.

Israel has in the past operated diplomatic missions in Oman and Qatar, though both nations closed those offices for fear of appearing unsympathetic to the “Palestinian cause.” Continue Reading »
