Israel welcomes 316 new immigrants from Ethiopia

Hundreds of new immigrants arrive in Israel from Ethiopia on the 1st flight of “Operation Zur Israel” (“Rock of Israel”).

Hundreds of members of the Jewish community in Ethiopia arrived in Israel Thursday morning as part of Operation Rock of Israel which aims to reunite families and their relatives who have immigrated to Israel in the past.

Thousands of people with Jewish roots waiting in Ethiopia to come to Israel, 2,000 of which are expected to arrive in the Jewish state by January 2021, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent outbreak of war in the northern Tigray region. Continue Reading »

Israeli delegation of firefights deployed to Ethiopia

Responding to a request submitted by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Israel immediately sends 10 firefighters to help fight mountain blaze that has raged on mercilessly for past 2 weeks.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Defense, a special delegation of firefighters arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday morning to help extinguish the huge fire that has raged for two weeks in the Simien Mountains area in northern Ethiopia.

Israeli officials joined efforts to save the life of Abdul Razek, an 8-year-old Muslim from Ethiopia who was almost eaten to death by a wild hyena.

The humanitarian operation involves Bedouin-Israeli diplomat Ismail Khaldi, Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia Belaynesh Zevadia and the government-owned Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya. If enough contributions are raised to fund the operation, Razek would be brought to Israel within the week. Continue Reading »
