Israel’s EMS Magen David Adom loses funding for West Bank stations

 

Magen David Adom has been facing pressure from the ICRC to defer EMS response in the West Bank to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Magen David Adom has lost funding to operate the majority of its stations in the West Bank, the ambulance service said on Thursday, citing an NIS 5 million shortfall in appropriations from the state.

An MDA spokesman said the impending closure of 13 West Bank ambulance stations out of the agency’s 17 stations there is unrelated to pressure by the International Committee of the Red Cross, which has been highly critical of MDA’s operations in the West Bank.

Star of David is Forbidden on Temple Mount

Police forced a First Aid volunteer from Magen David Adom  to remove his jacket with the organization’s emblem before entering the Temple Mount.

A volunteer with the Magen David Adom first aid service was forced on Sunday to remove his jacket with the organization’s emblem before he was allowed to enter the Temple Mount. The emblem of Magen David Adom is a red Star of David.

1 dead & 12 in serious condition at Tel Aviv’s Marathon

Magen David Adom: One runner dead, 12 in serious condition after falling from heat exhaustion at Tel Aviv’s annual Marathon.

Over 20 participants were taken to hospital suffering from heat stroke.

Tragedy at Tel Aviv Marathon: A 30-year old runner has died and 12 others were seriously injured on Friday morning in the Tel Aviv Marathon.

According to Magen David Adom medics, the injured are currently unconscious and undergoing artificial respiration, a few even requiring CPR.

The first aid tent at the starting point has become a field hospital with more and more runners arriving at the scene on stretchers due to suspected dehydration. Continue Reading »
