“Queen’s Speech” to include mention of Boris Johnson’s anti-BDS law

UK official says, “Antisemitism is an attack on the British way of life and British identity, …Without our Jewish citizens we would be a lesser nation.”

The new Conservative government in the UK will pass a law making it illegal for public bodies to engage with BDS, UK Special Envoy for post-Holocaust issues Rt Hon Lord Eric Pickles said at the International Institute for Strategic Dialogue’s conference in Jerusalem on Sunday night.

“BDS is antisemitic and should be treated as such,” Pickles said, explaining that the new law will not allow public bodies to work with those who boycott, divest from or sanction Israel in any way. Continue Reading »

A leading member of Israel‘s ultra-Orthodox community is to receive a rare honor from Queen Elizabeth, Buckingham Palace announced this week.

Isaac Schapira, son of Rabbi Abraham Yosef Schapira, a leader of Agudath Israel and a former member of the Knesset, will receive the appointment of an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Queen Elizabeth to Honor Israeli Professor for Opposing Academic Boycott

As part of the Queen’s ‘Birthday Honours List,’ Queen Elizabeth will recognize Prof. David Newman of Ben-Gurion University for advocating academic partnership between countries & for his opposing the U.K. academic boycott of Israel.

 

 

Buckingham Palace announced Saturday that an Israeli professor is among the more than 1,000 people being presented an award by Queen Elizabeth as part of her Birthday Honours list.
