REPORT: IDF combat soldiers will be given college scholarships after discharge

Full scholarships to pursue a university degree or professional certification upon completion if combat service will be funded by the IDF, the Friends of the IDF and the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers.

Israeli combat soldiers will receive full scholarships from the military to pursue a university degree or professional certification.

The scholarships will be funded by the Israel Defense Forces, as well as the Friends of the IDF and the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers, the Israeli Hebrew daily Yediot Acharonot reported.

In a recent meeting, IDF Chief of Staff Gen. Gadi Eisenkot asked Israel’s Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon to help him find the funds to offer such scholarships to only to combat soldiers, but to all soldiers after their service, according to Ynet, the English-language sister publication of Yediot. New academic scholarships awarded to 40 Christian IDF veterans

For the first time, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and the Israeli Christians Recruitment Forum will award academic scholarships to 40 Christians who served in Israel’s armed forces or performed national service.

Scholarship Students From Russia, Brazil Used Google Translate Before Learning Hebrew

 

Before learning Hebrew as their common language, Valeva from Russia, & Louis of São Paulo fell in love and turned to Google Translate after moving to Israel as part of a science & technology scholarship program for high schoolers.

Nicole Valeva grew up in the city of Ufa near the Ural Mountains in Russia, while Louis Weinstein was playing soccer on the beach near São Paulo, Brazil. A year ago, when they were both 15, they left their native countries, their families and friends and made aliyah to Israel to join the World ORT Anières Elite Academy’s science and technology scholarship program.
