Abbas credits terror attacks because Palestinians ‘lost hope’, Hamas disagrees

After Abbas attributed the past few days of knife & vehicular attacks on Palestinian despair, a Hamas official disagreed and tweeted him it was simply resistance to the “occupation.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday attributed a recent spate of attacks against Israelis and soldiers to lone wolf attackers who had “lost hope,” Arabic media reports.

The Palestinian Ma’an news agency quoted Abbas as saying that “our young people are taking up knives because they have no hope.”

Speaking to a group of about 80 Palestinian students and graduates in Venezuela, Abbas distanced his government from the attacks and allegations of incitement by adding that “the situation in Palestine is difficult every day, and every day there are martyrs and children picking up knives on their own.”

“Do not believe those who say that there are parties inciting and driving them. Rather they have lost hope,” he continued.

Hamas in the Gaza strip expressed a different view on the attacks saying that it was not despair driving the attacks, but rather resistance to the “occupation.”

Hamas spokesman Usamah Hamdan wrote to Abbas on Twitter: “To Mahmoud Abbas: Our youngsters carry knives on their own because they belong to a people of resistance, who have not been conquered by the brutality of the occupiers or security coordination with them, and not because of despair.”

Since Friday there have been five incidents of Palestinians and one Jordanian (above photo) attacking Israeli security forces and civilians after a three-week lull in a nearly year-long wave of violence.

Since October, 227 Palestinians, 34 Israelis, two Americans, one Jordanian, one Eritrean and a Sudanese have been killed in ongoing violence, according to an AFP count.

The couple that drove a pickup truck on Friday into a group of Israelis waiting at a bus stop were reportedly 'exposed' young lovers, given a chance to redeem their family's honor by killing Jews.

Israeli forces say most of the Palestinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks. Others were shot dead during protests and clashes.

Israel and Stuff Postscript:

This past week has witnessed a Jordanian terrorist try and stab Jews, and a young couple caught having sex, so to redeem their families honor, they went to kill Jews. There are many reasons, but almost all are drenched in religious incitement, or motivated as a way to make money for their families, since once killed or incarcerated by Israel, the Palestinian Authority pays generous monthly stipends that comes as financial assistance from the UK,EU,US & UN, a.k.a. the ‘Golden Goose’.

In the meantime, religious incitement against the “Jews trying to Judaize Jerusalem” or hefty monthly paychecks are maintaining the  motivation to continue the status quo.

Fatah, PLO, and Hamas leadership have all become mega-millionaires with non-stop “humanitarian aid” by the ‘Golden Goose.

So, I agree the Abbas. I can easily see that the Palestinians have ‘lost hope.’ In 50 years, the status quo hasn’t changed. Palestinian leadership have rejected 5 serious propositions for peace and statehood, but always saying ‘NO’.

Abbas and Hamas maintain incitement to keep the confrontations flowing, all at the detriment of their people, but, with financial gains for the leadership.

The ‘Golden Goose’ fuels the status quo, and for any serious change, the leaders need to be changed or the golden eggs must stop dropping into their laps.
