Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said at a legal conference in Tel Aviv on Tuesday that while he is pleased to hear of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s statements regarding Egypt’s commitment to abide by all international treaties, such affirmations are not merely be abstract ideals.

“I was pleased to hear Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s speech regarding Egypt’s’ commitment to peace with Israel, to the Camp David treaty and the struggle against terrorism,” Lieberman said. “That is a very important message.” Continue Reading »

Israel is also one of the world’s biggest arms buyers, according to a report, Conventional Arms Transfers to Developing Nations, 2004-2011, by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) at the Library of Congress. The Haifa District Court rejected on Tuesday accusations that Israel was at fault over the death of American activist Rachel Corrie, who was crushed by an army bulldozer during a 2003 pro-Palestinian demonstration in Gaza.

Corrie’s family had accused Israel of intentionally and unlawfully killing their 23-year-old daughter, launching a civil case in Haifa after a military investigation had cleared the army of wrong-doing.

The IDF has captured an axe-wielding Palestinian Authority Arab terrorist who attacked and wounded a Jew in the community of Maaleh Levona Tuesday morning.

The attack occurred at the entrance to the community, located in Samaria.

Medics treated the victim for light-to-moderate wounds in chest and evacuated him to Sha’arei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

Security personnel of the Binyamin region of Samaria, along with the IDF, scouted the area under a barrage of rocks thrown by local Arabs but managed to catch the attacker. Continue Reading »

The bullet-proof grenade was developed following a March 2010 incident on the Gaza Strip border in which two IDF soldiers were killed when a bullet hit a grenade lodged in the vest of one of the soldiers, causing it to detonate.

Corrie Family Seeking Justice in Upcoming Court Ruling

Rachel Corrie’s parents & sister hope the court will find the IDF responsible for her accidental 2003 death in Gaza.

Craig, Cindy and Sarah Corrie (Simpson) said on Sunday they hope that after nearly 10 years, the Haifa District Court will find the IDF responsible in the death of their daughter Rachel, 23, in Rafah, the southern Gaza Strip. A verdict is expected on Tuesday.

She was killed in disputed circumstances on March 16, 2003, while protesting an IDF home demolition.

A Qassam rocket exploded in an open area outside Sderot Monday. No injuries or damage were reported.

The Color Red alert sounded in the area ahead of the explosion.

The fire came as the city’s schoolchildren were entering their classrooms, ahead of the first day of the new school year.

Sunday also saw Gaza fire on Israel’s southern communities as three rockets were fired at the western Negev.

A new study by Weizmann Institute scientists has proven it’s possible to learn in your sleep.

The findings of the study, published today in Nature Neuroscience, state that if certain odors are presented after tones during sleep, people will start sniffing when they hear the tones alone – even when no odor is present – both during sleep and later, when awake.
