Masked Palestinian Arabs broke into a IDF checkpoint near the Palestinian Authority (PA) settlement of Beit Furik, northeast of Shechem, after they cut through barbed wire fence surrounding the post.

A video surfaced on YouTube over the weekend showing masked men, who were armed with a chainsaw and hammers, sawing through checkpoint gate, smashing the windows of the armored guard position, and vandalizing the checkpoint. Graffiti at the site read, “Boycott Israel, in memory of the martyr Motazz Washaha.”

Washasha was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine suspected of being directly involved in terrorism. He was found dead in his home in Birzeit following a Thursday morning raid by the IDF.

Some 4,000 mourners attended Washaha’s funeral at Birzeit, north of Ramallah, on Friday. The mourners called on Palestinian Arab factions to unite and avenge Washaha’s killing; within a few short hours, a mob of over two hundred Palestinian Arabs descended on IDF forces at the Atara checkpoint and rioted, throwing stones.

Incitement by the PA against Israel has become increasingly virulent as peace talks progress, recent statistics revealed. The Israeli government only recently released its annual “Palestinian Incitement Index“, which showed that incitement against Israel and the Jewish people is continuing on official media channels including – inter alia – by bodies that are very close to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and in educational and religious networks.
