Iranian official exposes Palestinian President Abbas of being CIA collaborator

 

Iran and the Palestinian Authority’s last public spat came in February when Tehran announced it would bypass Abbas’ PA and send money directly to families whose children carried out armed attacks against Israelis.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), an Iranian diaspora opposition group, met in Paris on Saturday, renewing tensions between the Palestinian leadership and Iran.

Abbas meets Rajavi, the head of Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), in Paris.

Abbas hosted Rajavi at his hotel and updated her on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the Middle East, according to Wafa, the official Palestinian Authority news agency. Continue Reading »

Barak tells Liberman: If Abbas falls, Hamas will take over West Bank

Defense Minister Ehud Barak over the weekend denounced Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman’s call for the ouster from office of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, claiming that if the PA regime were to lose influence, then the West Bank would come under Hamas control.

Palestinian Authority accuses Hamas of exploiting protests to export its coup

The Palestinian Authority on Saturday accused Hamas of exploiting peaceful protests against the high cost of living to spread chase and anarchy in the West Bank.

Adndan Damiri, spokesman for the PA security forces, also accused Hamas of working to overthrow the PA regime in the West Bank.

Damiri claimed that the PA security forces have received information about Hamas’s efforts to destabilize the situation in the West Bank.

Ayalon: Israel will reject Abbas’ request for PA economic accord review

Abbas requests a review of the 1994 Paris Protocol amid pressure from protesters to cancel PA-Israeli economic agreement.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon on Monday said that Israel will reject Palestinian requests to update the 1994 Paris Protocol, the framework that established economic relations between Israel and the PA, Israel Radio reported.

Palestinians have huge debts to Israel, and yet they are operating against it in international organizations, Ayalon said.

“There is no room to fix it when there is no progress in the political channel, and the Palestinians have huge debts to Israel for transferring gas and electricity, for example,” he said.

Abbas drops threat to dismantle PA over stalled Israel talks, foreign diplomats say

The Associated Press obtains a letter the Palestinian Authority president is planning to deliver to Israel, with planned ultimatum to dismantle the PA removed from the text.

 

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has dropped a planned threat to dismantle the Palestinian Authority in protest of the deadlock in peace efforts with Israel, foreign diplomats said on Thursday.

Abbas had been planning to deliver the threat in a letter to Israel. But, according to the letter obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, the language has been dropped from the text.

The diplomats who provided the letter said Abbas scrapped the threat at the urging of President Barack Obama.

PA to Israel: Release Prisoners, Then We’ll Talk Peace

Fatah yet again demands that Israel release terrorists as a condition for peace negotiations

The leadership of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement is once again demanding that Israel release terrorist prisoners as a condition for peace talks, it was reported on Thursday.

According to the report on Kol Yisrael radio, among the prisoners the Fatah is demanding to be released is Ahmed Saadat, who heads the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and who planned the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi in 2001.
