It is important for people to understand the context of the verses and hadiths regarding the Jews, and it is particularly important for Muslims to understand them properly. Taking verses or hadiths out of context leads not only to poor understanding, it leads to prejudicial attitudes and outright hatred of people who have done nothing wrong. Israeli ambassador appalled at ‘Der Spiegel’ columnist

German envoy says comparison of Gaza to concentration camp, “shameful.” He warns of “rising left-wing anti-Semitism”.

BERLIN – Israel’s Ambassador to Germany,Yaakov Hadas-Handelsman, weighed in on the heated row over the alleged anti-Semitism of Der Spiegel columnist Jakob Augstein and growing left-wing anti-Semitism in the Federal Republic.

“That is shameful,”said Hadas-Handelsman of Augstein’s comparison between the Gaza Strip and a concentration camp. The Israeli ambassador gave a wide-ranging interview on Saturday to the daily Rheinische Post, a regional paper in Düsseldorf.

When asked whether Augstein is an anti-Semite, Hadas-Handelsman said he could not delve into the psyche of anti-Israel authors and journalists like Guenther Grass and Augstein to determine if they are anti-Semites. Continue Reading »

The New York Times said it had obtained video of a speech by Morsi in which he urged Egyptians to “nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred” for Jews and Zionists. New Dress-code for Israelis required by Jordanian Tourism Ministry

Jordanian Tourism Ministry warned Jewish Israeli tourists not to perform religious rituals or wear religious garb while traveling in the country.

The Jordanian Tourism Ministry on Wednesday warned Jewish and Israeli tourists not to openly wear religious garb or perform religious rituals while visiting the country.

Jordanian tourism officials reportedly informed their Israeli counterparts to advise visitors not to wear “Jewish dress” or perform “religious rituals in public places” so as to prevent possible attacks.

Earlier this year, six Israeli tourists wearing kippot, or yarmulkes, were assaulted in a marketplace in southern Jordan, after their traditional Jewish garb “provoked the sensibilities of the vendors,” independent daily Al-Arab Al-Yawm reported. Continue Reading »

The controversy over the Israeli food station arose after Lebanese Harvard graduate Sara el-Yafi on October 28 posted to her Facebook page a letter of protest to the University describing the Israeli buffet’s menu as an affront to Arabs, as Hummus and Couscous, for example, are not of Israeli origin.
