Azerbaijan jailed 22 Islamic terrorists on Tuesday for plotting attacks on US & Israeli embassies in collaboration with Iran.

Azerbaijan jailed 22 alleged Islamic radicals on Tuesday for plotting attacks on the U.S. and Israeli embassies in the ex-Soviet state in collaboration with neighboring Iran, a court in Baku said.

Azerbaijan frequently has been named as a country from which Israeli planes could fly to attack Iran in an effort to curtail its nuclear development program. In a rare admission two weeks ago, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Fereydoon Abbasi, was quoted in al-Hayat saying the Iranian government had provided false information in the past to protect its nuclear program. Abbasi accused Britain’s foreign intelligence service, MI-6, of spying on Iran to justify the fact that it had decided to lie to the international community.

Iran’s FARS news agency cites fictitious poll saying Ahmadinejad is more popular than Obama in U.S.

Iranian news agency, FARS cited a poll by The Onion, a satirical website , as a credible source, claiming a majority of U.S. rural whites prefer  Ahmadinejad over Obama.

Later, the report was no longer available online.

Iranian news agency FARS reported the results of a Gallup poll on Friday, which it said had found that “an overwhelming majority of rural white Americans said they would rather vote for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad than U.S. President Barack Obama.”

White House reports Netanyahu & Obama ‘in full agreement’ on Iran’s nuclear program

Following a phone conversation between Netanyahu & Obama, the WH did not say whether Obama gave any ground on giving a ‘red line’ towards Iran.

Iranian delegation to UN General Assembly in New York on major shopping spree

Report: Iranians have trouble buying imported goods back home since sanctions imposed over its nuclear program.

 

Iranian delegates to the United Nation General Assembly went on a shopping spree during their visit to New York, the Daily Mail reported Thursday, citing a source saying sanctions imposed on Iran make it harder to get foreign goods back home.

Azerbaijan Convicts 3 Over Plan to Murder Jews & Connects Plan to Iranian Official

Plot’s leader admits in interview that Iran contracted the men as ‘pay-back’ for the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists.

Three people have been convicted of plotting to kill teachers at a Jewish school in Azerbaijan.

A court in the capital Baku on Thursday found plot ringleader Rasim Aliyev and two other Azerbaijani citizens guilty of plotting the assassination of public officials and gun-smuggling. Aliyev was given a 14-year sentence while the others received 13 and eight years.

U.S. refuses entry visas for 20 Iranians for UN meet in NYC

Although 2 ministers & top aides among those denied entry, Iranian news agency says 140 were given U.S. visas.

The United States has denied visas to about 20 Iranian government officials hoping to attend next week’s UN General Assembly, including two ministers, Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused his country’s enemies of enacting a sinister plan to create a drought by somehow destroying the rain clouds before they reach Iran, several Iranian websites reported on Tuesday.

Well-known for his anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric, Ahmadinejad has made similar remarks before and last year accused the West of devising a plot to cause drought in the Islamic republic.

“The enemy destroys the clouds that are headed towards our country and this is a war Iran will win,” Ahmadinejad said, according to several websites including the BBC’s Persian-language site. Continue Reading »

The Israeli bombing of a Syrian nuclear strike began with intelligence gathered six months earlier in a daring raid on the Austrian home of the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission director Ibrahim Othman, The New Yorker reported in its new edition.

David Makovsky, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, wrote under the headline “The Silent Strike,” that in March 2007, Mossad agents raided the home following suspicions concerning a large building the Assad regime was building in the northeastern Syrian desert. Iran’s leadership has publicly stated that it would crush any Israeli offensive against its nuclear facilities, but Iran’s ordinary citizens appear to feel otherwise, Channel 10 News reported on Monday.

The channel spoke with several Iranian citizens who, without revealing their identities, said that there is great tension and fear among Iranians over a possible war with Israel.

“The Iranians understand their current president says terrible things about Israel,” said one Iranian, a resident of Bushehr. “You can be sure that not all Iranians agree with the behavior of their leaders.” Continue Reading »

Iran’s long arm snagged in Syria

Iran’s The Quds Force, first set up during the Iran-Iraq war, has been linked to terrorist attacks on Israeli & Jewish targets.


 

Earlier this month, a group of 48 men from Iran entered Syria, ostensibly to visit a Shi’ite shrine.

The group’s alleged purpose was to pay tribute to the tomb of Sayeda Zeinab, granddaughter of Islam’s prophet Muhammad, who is buried south of Damascus.

As they were making their way to Damascus airport, gunmen from the Free Syrian Army kidnapped the men and have held them ever since. The FSA dismissed the men’s claim that they were innocent pilgrims, saying they were in fact active members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and its elite covert unit, the Quds Force. Ban, who arrived in Iran on Wednesday for the Non-Aligned Movement Conference, had a series of meetings with Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, spokesman Martin Nesirky said.
