Paraguay’s outgoing President Horacio Cartes fulfills promise to move his country’s embassy to Jerusalem before leaving office, with it’s official opening on Tuesday, following decisions of the U.S. and Guatemala.
– President-elect Mario Abdo Benitez said he wasn’t consulted on the subject.

Paraguay’s President Horacio Cartes will open the country’s new embassy to Israel in Jerusalem on Tuesday, following similar steps by the United States and Guatemala.

Government spokesman Mariano Mercado said Cartes will leave for the trip to Israel on Saturday.The decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem has been controversial in Paraguay.

Honduras, Paraguay reportedly prepared to relocate embassies to Jerusalem

Army Radio reports that should Israel’s PM Netanyahu visit both Paraguay and Honduras, their leaders will be willing to move their perspective embassies to Jerusalem.

Paraguay and Honduras said they are both ready “in principle” to relocate their embassies to Jerusalem, Army Radio reported on Sunday, citing a senior Israeli diplomatic source.

According to the report, the two countries conditioned the move on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu making an official visit to their country.

In December, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to condemn U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, with a total of 128 of the UN’s 193 members voting in favor of the resolution. Continue Reading »

Israel admits assisting Paraguay in fight against Hezbollah’s nefarious activities


Israel’s report stated that Hezbollah maintain a logistical base in South America and the Caribbean, with members, supporters, and facilitators engaging in illegal schemes that support and finance the Lebanese terrorist organization.



Israel is helping Paraguay take actions against Hezbollah in the Tri-Border area with Argentina and Brazil, the Foreign Ministry acknowledged on Wednesday while announcing the opening of the new embassy in Asuncion.
