A pro-Palestinian Jewish group in the United States is waging a campaign to convince young Jews to shun Birthright – a program that offers free 10 day trips to Israel to strengthen diaspora Jews’ connection with the Jewish state.

The Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) advocacy organization is urging 18-26 year-olds eligible for the trips to sign a ‘pledge’ that they will “not go on a Birthright trip because it is fundamentally unjust that we are given a free trip to Israel, while Palestinian refugees are barred from returning to their homes.” Continue Reading »

Rabbi fuming as she and 4 other BDS activists denied boarding flight to Israel

#BDSfail: Lufthansa officials at Dulles International Airport inform 5 ‘Jewish Voice for Peace’ activists that a gov’t representative in Jerusalem refuses to allow them to land in Israel.

Five members of an interfaith delegation to Israel were prevented from boarding their flight from Washington, DC, reportedly due to their activism on behalf of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

The Jewish Voice for Peace organization said in a statement Monday that the delegation tried to check into its Lufthansa flight at Dulles International Airport, only to be told that the Israeli government had ordered the airline not to let the five passengers aboard. Continue Reading »
