UK Labor MPs Rebel Against Dictated ‘Palestine’ Vote

Opposition MPs are ‘furious’ for being directed to vote for recognition of Palestinian state, admitting it makes ‘peace’ process more difficult.

The UK is anticipated to pass a non-binding vote on Monday recognizing “Palestine,” but members of the Labor party which proposed the move are reportedly holding an internal revolt against the forced vote.

Likud seeks to legislate Judea & Samaria’s legal status into Israeli law

 

A draft bill aiming to define the Land of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people is to be presented by Coalition Chairman Yariv Levin. The bill will also seeks to downgrade official status of Arabic as an official language of Israel.

MK Yachimovich declines luxury car (about $420,000), again

 

Labor’s chairwoman favors Knesset members’ Mazda vehicle over Audi A6 and prefers a female driver.

‘The opposition & the public can be served very well even with a Mazda,’ Yachimovic said.

Opposition Chairwoman Shelly Yachimovich (Labor) informed the Knesset on Monday that she was not interested in the armored A6 Audi car she is entitled to as part of her position, and asked to keep using the Mazda car given to her as a Knesset member.

Several key Labor members abstain from vote on bill calling of public transportation on Shabbat

 

Several Laborparty members, including Chairwoman Shelly Yachimovich, chose to abstain from a Knesset vote Wednesday on a bill calling for public transportation on Shabbat.

While Labor is seen as a traditional supporter of secular causes, several key party members stayed away from the vote, where the bill calling for Shabbat buses was defeated.

Yachimovich already declared her objection to such bill in the past, arguing that it would cause “deep social harm.”

Meanwhile, Labor member Isaac Herzog said that the party faces deep disagreements on the issue and has not yet formulated its stance on it. Continue Reading »
