Associated Press

Abbas, NetanyahuIshtayeh warned Israel could end up with “an apartheid style state, similar to the one of former South Africa.”

“In the long run it will be against the Israeli interests because … we Palestinians will be the majority and will struggle for equality,” he said, adding that Abbas had met repeated this message in meetings with several Israeli leaders in the past year. Continue Reading »

What meaning is behind Abbas’ new tone?

Given the regional dangers that are on the horizon, any political arrangement with the Palestinians in the future must have a much stronger security component than what Olmert or Barak may have considered in the past.

By Dore Gold

Mahmoud Abbas delivered a speech on Jan. 4, on the anniversary of the founding of Fatah, that may have marked a turning point in the relations between the Palestinian Authority president and the State of Israel. Using extremist rhetoric that he has not adopted before, Abbas spoke about the need of the Palestinians “to renew an oath to the heroic martyrs and to walk in their path.”

Is European diplomacy in the service of our enemies?

Original Thinking: It is prudent to quote Winston Churchill, who castigated the British political leadership with the words, “You had the choice of choosing war or dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you got war.”

By BARRY SHAW

What has Israel experienced from Europe recently as it was assaulted by Palestinian terror and diplomacy? How do we define the attitude, words and deeds of European Union ministers and diplomats? What they have done and said can only be interpreted as closed-mind diplomacy in the service of our enemy.

The European Parliament building in Strasbourg
Look how events unfolded. Although most condemned the Hamas missile attacks against Israel, they failed to follow their condemnation with any punitive measures against a Palestinian terror regime that is guilty of multiple international crimes ranging from terrorism, war crimes, crimes against humanity, incitement to murder and anti-Semitism, to name but a few.

State of Palestine not to be written on ID or Passports

Declaration of Palestinian ‘State’ is one thing, but Mahmoud Abbas refrains from issuing new passports or IDs fearing Israeli retaliation

Associated Press

With UN recognition of a Palestinian state in his pocket, President Mahmoud Abbas wants official documents to carry a new emblem: “State of Palestine.”

But scrapping the old “Palestinian Authority” logo is as far as Abbas is willing to go in provoking Israel. He is not rushing to change passports and ID cards Palestinians need to pass through Israeli crossings.

“At the end of the day, the Palestinian Authority won’t cause trouble for its people,” Nour Odeh, a spokeswoman for Abbas’ self-rule government, said of the need for caution. Continue Reading »

‘Palestine’ says “NO!” to UNRWA request to accept Syrian Palestinian refugees

Palestinians don’t want Palestinian refugees as Gaza & Ramallah both refuse UNRWA’s request to ‘help their brothers’.

Past calls to come to ‘Palestine’ were empty promises of help; were only made to rattle Israel.

By Aviel Schneider

The Palestinian governments in Gaza (Hamas) and the so-called “West Bank” (Mahmoud Abbas) have refused to take Palestinian refugees from war-ridden Syria.

Recently, the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which was created to handle the issue of Palestinian Arab refugees, asked the Palestinian governments to allow their brothers from Syria to enter.

Palestinian Arabs in Syria have had to flee their refugee camps under attack from Syrian rebels who view the Palestinians as supporters of dictator Bashar Assad. Continue Reading »

Washington Post Editorial: Jewish Settlements are not main obstacle to Peace

Abbas’ Overheated rhetoric on Israeli settlements, are counterproductive and the int’l community’s incessant criticism of prospective Israeli plans to build new housing units, primarily in Jerusalem, only reinforces 2 mistaken but widely held notions: that the settlements are the principal obstacle to a peace deal and that further construction will make a Palestinian state impossible

What Does Abbas’s Latest Threats to Quit Really Mean?

Why doesn’t Abbas consider the possibility of handing the “keys” to another Palestinian? Abbas apparently believes that if he cannot lead the Palestinian Authority no one else should — that if he comes down, then the entire Palestinian Authority should also collapse. A changing of the guard is something that the US and the EU, the major funders of Abbas and his associates, could play a major role in bringing about.

By Khaled Abu Toameh

This time he chose to make his new old threat in an interview with the daily Haaretz. Continue Reading »

By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu
