UNRWA: We need more money to give the Palestinians

With well over 95% of UNRWA’s 28,000 employees being Palestinian, the head of UNRWA, the UN agency that deals exclusively with Palestinian refugees of all the world’s other refugees, says, ‘We can’t pay our employees on time.

The head of UNRWA, the UN agency for “Palestinian refugees” said Tuesday the organization was unable to pay its 28,000 employees on time this month because of a major funding crisis, The Associated Pressreports.

UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini was quoted as having told reporters in Jordan that the resumption of US support for the agency this year – which had been halted by the Trump administration – was offset by a reduction in funding by other donors. Continue Reading »

The United States voted last week to abstain on a resolution concerning the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the UN’s agency that handles Palestinian refugees – part of several resolutions put forth in the UN General Assembly concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that largely targeted Israel for its treatment of Palestinians.

Republican lawmakers delay Biden’s refunding the Palestinians

Israel approved plan to build schools replacing UNRWA for Arab kids

Jerusalem Mayor gets plan approved for constructing educational campus serving the capital’s Arab neighborhoods providing a superior education and free of UNRWA’s anti-Semitic and martyrdom indoctrination.

The Jerusalem Municipal Council approved Tuesday night a plan to construct an educational campus for Education Ministry schools near the city’s Arab Shuafat and Anata neighborhoods.

These schools will be an alternative to the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) schools which currently dominate the area.

Despite UN’s censure of racist Palestinian textbooks, funding continues

PLO scurrying to keep UNRWA mandate renewed by UN

PLO chief Erekat claims that the timing of the UN’s internal investigation of graft and sexual misconduct among UNRWA’s senior management was “consistent with US and Israeli efforts to dry up the resources of UNRWA.“

Amid corruption in UNRWA, Switzerland suspends payments

The Swiss Federal Dept of Foreign Affairs clarified that it has already transferred $22.5 million to UNRWA for 2019, so the suspension of financial support would be for 2020, as it attaches special importance to good governance for international organizations.
