Rand Paul: Stop Palestinian aid unless they recognize Israel as Jewish state

 

Paul, a likely candidate for the Republican presidential campaign in 2016, said introducing law to stop the aid was needed because of the Fatah-Hamas unity agreement.

WASHINGTON  — US Sen. Rand Paul said he will introduce legislation that would cut US funding to the Palestinian Authority unless its government recognized Israel as a Jewish state.

Paul (R-Ky.), a likely contender for the Republican presidential nod in 2016, said the law was needed because of the interim governance agreement last week between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.

He said he would introduce the legislation this week if there is no such statement after five weeks — the deadline set by Hamas and the Fatah faction to establish an interim government that would lay the ground for elections.

US Congresswoman Lowey plans to stop funding Palestinians

Rep. Nita Lowey said she is ready to launch steps to stop the $400 million the Palestinians receive annually.

It would be illegal to fund Hamas, a designated terrorist group.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), a top congressional appropriator, said she is ready to launch steps to defund the Palestinian Authority in the wake of its unity agreement with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“I’ll be working with the State Department on the logistics of suspending assistance,” Lowey told JTA on Thursday, after the Israeli government said it was formally suspending peace talks because of the agreement.

U.S. Congressional Committee Debates Stopping Aid to PA Until Incitement Stops

According to Israel’s TV2 report, House Appropriations Committee weighing bill cutting off scheduled financial aid to the PA until antisemitic & anti-Israel incitement stops.

Channel 2 reports Saturday night that the US Congress House Appropriations Committee is debating cutting off aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) unless its ongoing incitement against Israel stops or is significantly curtailed.

Under the new law, aid to the PA will be frozen until a reliable report is released proving that it has begun cutting down its incitement against the Jewish state.

PA President Abbas pays released terrorists $10,000-$50,000 when freed

 

In addition to exuberant monthly salaries paid by Abbas’ PA to all Palestinian prisoners serving time in Israel jails, they also receive massive prison ‘severance package’ that can easily reach up to $60,000. In one case, Abbas even ok’s to picked up bill for prisoner’s wedding.

The Palestinians Authority is mostly financed by the US & Europe.

The 104 Palestinian prisoners – some of which have already been released as part of goodwill gestures taken by Israel to promote peace talks with the Palestinians – will receive massive benefits from the Palestinians Authority.

Japan gives Israel, Jordan & Palestinians a new industrial complex in Jericho

 

Israel’s Regional Development Minister Silvan Shalom said yesterday in Jericho, “The industrial sector will provide jobs to thousands of workers & is part of a series of projects whose goal is to aid the Palestinian economy & promote regional cooperation.”

Sweden may reduce aid to Palestinians

 

Swedish Report: Sweden’s diplomat Gunilla Carlsson outlines reason for limiting financial support for Palestinians, why it might be lowered.

The Swedish government may cut back on financial assistance to the Palestinians following their failure to move forward with peace negotiations with Israel, Swedish news site The Local reported.

The report quoted Development aid minister Gunilla Carlsson as asking: “Is it worth continuing developing the prerequisites for a two-state solution if Israel and the Palestinians themselves do not want to sit down at the negotiating table?”

At the moment, Sweden donates $107 million on a yearly basis to Gaza and the West Bank to aid the Palestinians, a move that Carlsson says has been made to fortify the Palestinian’s position in any future peace talks.
