Arabs report 9 people wounded in clashes with Jewish residents near a Palestinian village

Violent clashes erupted on Saturday near the West Bank village of Qusra, south of Nablus, between villagers and Jewish settlers from nearby Jewish outpost. IDF forces arrived on the scene and employed crowd-control measures.

Arabs Stone Kindergarten, Arabs shoot into Bus

Sunday saw a number of incidents in which inciting Arabs rioted, threw rocks at kindergarten children and shot at Israelis traveling in a bus.

Arab terrorists fired on a bus traveling in the Binyamin region Sunday evening. There were no injuries reported.

The number 172 bus, traveling from Jerusalem to the town of Anatot, was fired at as it passed near the Arab town of Hizme, north of Jerusalem. The bus was damaged, with several of the bullets piercing the bullet-proof windows.

Police closed the road immediately after the shooting was reported, and began a search for the culprits. Continue Reading »

Palestinians report: IDF kills woman during riot

Palestinian sources say 21 year-old female student shot in the head near Hebron; IDF says fire was used as part of crowd-control measures following riot.

Palestinian sources in the West Bank reported Wednesday that a 21-year-old woman was shot and killed by IDF forces operating near Highway 60, which runs between Hebron and Gush Etzion.

According to the IDF, troops operating in the area had no choice but to use live fire to disperse a riot that saw dozens of Palestinian hurl Molotov cocktails and stones at the forces.

Palestinian medical officials accused Israeli soldiers of killing a farmer in the Gaza Strip on Monday, but a military spokeswoman denied any Israeli involvement.

The 21-year-old was taken to Shifa hospital but died later, said doctors.

An IDF spokeswoman said officials had checked “and apparently the incident is not related to the Israeli army.”

A group of Fatah gunmen from the Balata refugee in Nablus camp have announced the establishment of “the army of free fighters” on Wednesday.

The group members celebrated the occasion by holding a march at the camp during which they fired in the air.

Palestinian security forces have been engaged in a large-scale mission to confiscate illegal weapons in the Jenin and Balata refugee camps in recent months.

The raids often involved fire exchanges with the gunmen, some of whom are former members of Fatah’s military wing the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. Continue Reading »

Elite IDF counter-terrorism force ‘busted’ in undercover operation

Raid gone wrong: Palestinian sources in the West Bank reported Tuesday that riots broke out in the West Bank village of Tamoun, near Jenin, after an undercover IDF unit operating in the area was exposed.

Three soldiers sustained mild injuries and were evacuated to a nearby hospital.

The Palestinians said that the troops were disguised as vegetable vendors and and sought to seize members of a militant group.

Hamas has no intention of compromising with Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting. Echoing comments made by President Shimon Peres earlier in the day, Netanyahu said Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal’s comments in Gaza over the weekend exposed “our enemies’ true face” once again.

Arabs Attack & Stone Israeli Policemen on Temple Mount

Friday prayers end with hundreds of Arab youths throwing rocks at security forces; no one injured.

Several hundred Arab worshipers stoned police forces near the Mughrabi Gate, at the entrance to Temple Mount, following the end of Friday prayers.

Police and Border Guard officers used crowd-control measures to disperse the crowd. No injuries were reported. The police are canvassing the area for the incident’s instigators.

The police said visits to Temple Mount were undisturbed by the incident.

Friday’s stoning followed a similar event that took place on Thursday.

Dozens of women and rights activists in Bethlehem demanded stricter laws to end violence against women.

The crowd demonstrated at the site where a 29-year-old woman was stabbed to death before witnesses in broad daylight just two days earlier by her estranged husband.

Women chanted demands that the government punish those who attack them, and held banners demanding respect for women.

Police said Nancy Zaboun’s husband had beaten her Sunday night, according to the Ma’an news agency. But when officers were called to the scene, they only asked him to sign a pledge not to do it again. Continue Reading »
