Gallup Poll: 72% of Americans view Israel favorably

 

 

Annual Gallup survey finds Israel the most positively viewed Mideast nation among Americans, up from 66% in 2013.

Iran ranks lowest at 9%.

A new poll by Gallup shows that 72 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Israel, up from 66 percent last year.

Israel-American flagThe annual Gallup World Affairs poll, conducted from February 6-9, also shows a relatively stable perception among Americans of Israel and seven other “important” Middle East countries – Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, the Palestinian Authority, Saudi Arabia and Libya.

Poll: Lapid – Most unpopular minister

 

Finance Minister came dead last when 505 respondents were asked to evaluate the job performance of all 23 ministers.

 

 

Finance Minister Yair Lapid scored the lowest among the cabinet’s 23 ministers in a Panels poll sponsored this week by The Jerusalem Post’s Hebrew sister publication, Sof Hashavua.

The poll of 505 respondents representing a statistical sample of the Israeli population was asked to rate the job performance of all the ministers on a score of one to 100.

Israel holds 36th place in Gov’t Corruption Index

 

Israel climbs 3 spots from 39th to 36th place of 177 countries in level of transparency.

Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perceptions Index ranks Israel 36th out of 177 countries, giving it a score of 61 out of 100 for its level of transparency. This suggests a minor improvement from last year when Israel was ranked 39th with a score of 60. However, 64% of OECD members were rated above Israel.

Survey from Columbia University’s Earth Institute shows Nordic countries listed top in global happiness for 2013. Israel up 3 places from last year, coming in 11th.

The happiest people in the world are in Denmark, according to a new report published on Monday, based on research carried out by The Earth Inststute at Columbia University. Happiness is measured by a variety of parameters, including life expectancy, infant mortality, socio-economic status and education.

85% of Israelis oppose releasing prisoners to commence peace-talks

 

New poll shows Palestinian demand to release detainees from prison as a precondition to appear at  peace-talks, “unacceptable” to majority of Israeli Jews.

 

The Palestinian Authority’s demand that Israel release terrorists from prison as a precondition for peace talks is unacceptable to 85 percent of Israeli Jews, according to a Smith Research poll sponsored by the Knesset’s Land of Israel caucus.

Asked whether they would support releasing terrorists as a gesture to bring the Palestinians to the negotiating table, 57% said they would strongly oppose it, 28% said were against it, 13% said they supported it and just 2% said they were strongly in favor of such a move.

Germany has the most positive influence on the world, according to a survey of 26,000 people in 25 countries.

Israel placed near the bottom of a BBC poll released Thursday ranking the world’s most positively viewed countries.

Some 26,000 people from 25 countries around the world were asked if they viewed a list of 16 countries and the European Union as having a “mainly positive” or “mainly negative” influence in the world.

Germany topped the list with 59 percent of respondents viewing it positively, followed by Canada (55%), the UK (55%) and Japan (51%).

WASHINGTON– Israelis by a 4-to-1 margin are more confident than Palestinians in how President Obama handles his foreign policy, a poll found.

The Pew Research Center poll released Thursday found that 61 percent of Israelis “express confidence in the American president to do the right thing regarding world affairs,” as opposed to 15 percent of Palestinians.

69% of Americans are against US pushing peace on Israel

55% of Americans sympathize more with Israel, 9% sympathize more with the Palestinians  according to Washington Post-ABC poll.

Only 26% of Americans think US should take leading role in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A large majority of Americans (69 percent) believe that the administration of US President Barack Obama should leave the handling of the peace process to Israel and the Palestinians rather than taking the lead in resolving the conflict between the sides, a Washington Post-ABC News poll released Monday found.

Support for Israel has been exceeding 60% for the last three years, but the recent poll sees the highest percentage in the last 22 years.
