Israeli firm signs $10m contract to supply robots for Italian military police

Roboteam has supplied robotic systems to military, gov’t divisions from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan & Thailand.
• The $10 million contract will provide 40 robots to Italy’s military police, the Arma dei Carabinieri.

Israeli robotics company Robo-Team Ltd., also known as Roboteam, announced on Wednesday that it has been awarded a $10 million contract to provide 40 robots to Italy’s military police, the Arma dei Carabinieri.

The firm manufactures ground robotic systems, also known as the Transportable Interoperable Ground Robot (TIGR), for military and law-enforcement utilization, such as handling of suspicious and dangerous items, in addition to collecting intelligence. Continue Reading »

Israeli teens take 2nd place at international high school robotics competition

An Israeli high school team from Binyamina, near Haifa, came in second at the prestigious FIRST Robotics Competition in St. Louis, Missouri, held April 27-30.

The final match was a showdown between the Orbit team of students from Binyamina’s Rothschild-Hashomron High School, and an American team. Although it ended in a 2:2 draw, the defending American champion came on top due to a technicality. Continue Reading »

An Israeli student has created robots that might change the world of package deliveries for good.

Kobi Shikar, an engineering and design student at Shenkar School of Engineering in Ramat Gan, Israel, has designed a robotic delivery service, Transwheel.

The Daily Mail reported that the robots are one- wheeled drones, which balance themselves by using a similar system to the popular Segway. They contain a facial recognition software to identify recipients and have a GPS system in order to make their way around. Continue Reading »

Israeli Students Take 1st prize in Int’l Robotics Competition

Group of high-schoolers from the southern Israeli town of Yeruham, is 1st Israeli team to take part in the ‘FIRST Tech Challenge’. Along with winning the top prize, the Israeli team won 2 additional trophies: for creativity & for success as 1st-time participators.

A group of students from the southern Israeli city of Yeruham won the first prize at the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition held in Chicago last week.

The Israeli team, which calls itself the Y Team and comprises some 30 Yeruham Sci-Tech students, was represented at the competition by Racheli Amar (10th grade), Itai Seif (ninth grade), and their mentor, Reuven Stahl, who traveled to Highland Park in Chicago with the help of the Science, Technology and Space Ministry.
