Israel Steaming Over White House Leaks That Endanger Israel

Israeli gov’t officials angered by the White House’s exposing of Israel as being behind the attacks on Syrian missiles Thursday. The exposure could facilitate a much broader area conflict.

Israeli officials expressed anger Friday at the White House’s decision to disclose that Israel carried out the two attacks on targets in Syria Thursday. The attacks in Latakiya and Damascus are believed to have targeted SA-8 missiles that were about to be transferred to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

An Obama administration official confirmed to CNN that the target of the Israeli strike was “missiles and related equipment the Israelis felt might be transferred to Hezbollah.” Continue Reading »

Kuwait Report: Israeli warplanes destroy Syrian missiles headed to Hezbollah

 

Kuwaiti newspaper quotes unidentified Israeli security official reporting that the IAF targeted a missile shipment along Syrian-Lebanese border. This report follows local Lebanese reports suggesting Israeli activity in its airspace.

Saudi Report: Hezbollah received chemical weapons from Assad

 

The Saudi newspaper Al Watan quotes a Lebanese parliament member as saying that under Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ supervision and despite int’l agreement to surrender its chemical weapons, the Syrian regime has delivered to Hezbollah long-range missiles capable of carrying chemical warheads.

As Syria prepared to surrender its chemical weapons in compliance with international efforts, the Saudi newspaper Al Watan quoted a Lebanese parliamentarian on Sunday as saying that Syrian President Bashar Assad has already transferred large stores of chemical weapons to his ally, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

He emphasized that he had no need for chemical weapons.

According to the report, which was carried by Hezbollah’s paper Al-Akhbar, Assad said this was because the situation in Syria “has never been better,” as “we created chemical weapons in the ’80s as a deterrent against Israel’s nuclear arsenal.

Report contradicts CNN: Israeli submarine strike hit Syria’s missile storage depot

UK daily contradicts a CNN report claiming that the Israeli air force bombed Syrian weapons depot, and they say attack was coordinated with the Pentagon.

Israeli Dolphin-class submarines carried out a July 5 attack on an arms depot in the Syrian port city of Latakia, according to a report in the British Sunday Times, which contradicted a previous CNN report that the attack was the work of the Israel Air Force.

The alleged Israeli naval strike was closely coordinated with the United States and targeted a contingent of 50 Russian-made Yakhont P-800 anti-ship missiles that had arrived earlier in the year for Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, the Times cited Middle East intelligence sources as stating.

Report: Israeli Submarine Fired on Syria From Mediterranean

According to Mid-East intelligence sources, an Israeli submarine attacked Syria’s advanced missile weapon depot in Latakia last week.

The recent strike on an arms depot in Latakia was a naval intervention and not an airstrike, Middle East intelligence sources told the Sunday Times newspaper.

According to the report, the attack was carried out using a Dolphin class submarine and was well-coordinated with the United States administration. If the report is correct, it would be Israel’s first naval intervention in Syria.

The officials also told the Sunday Times that the attack targeted 50 Russian-made Yakhont anti-ship missiles.
