Their chemical agents have already been integrated in warheads mounted on advanced Scud missiles.

Vatican: Christians expelled from war-torn Syrian town

Most of the city’s 10,000 Christians have fled the city, situated in the battleground province of Homs.

BEIRUT — Much of the Christian population of the besieged Syrian city of Qusair has abandoned the town after an “ultimatum” from the rebel military chief there, reports Agenzia Fides, the official Vatican news agency.The ultimatum expired Thursday, the agency reported, adding that most of the city’s 10,000 Christians have fled the city, situated in the battleground province of Homs.

Syrian rebels abduct 5 top Hizballah officers, including Nasrallah’s nephew

Hizballah’s masters in Tehran were dismayed to find their leadership had fallen into hostile hands  – and practically under the nose of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Did Syria’s Rebels Pass Israel Assad’s Secrets?

A Syrian newspaper claims Israel and the US have obtained the crown jewels of Damascus’ military intelligence secrets from the rebels

Syrian state news outlets claimed Tuesday rebels from the Free Syrian Army passed sensitive military secrets to Israel and the United States.

“The insurgents in Syria and Israel and the U.S. gave military secrets,” a lengthy article in a Syrian newspaper said, citing a report of some 3,000 pages said to detail “some of Syria’s most sensitive military secrets.”

According to the report, the information mentioned in the report came from officers and soldiers who deserted the Syrian Army at the beginning of the popular uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime over 14 months ago. Continue Reading »

Syrian rebels tried to kill Assad’s top aides, Israeli officials confirm

Information shows that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s brother-in-law, Assef Shawkat, and several other senior officials were indeed poisoned, just as the Free Syrian Army claims.

Israel has reliable information showing that despite Syria’s official denials, an attempt was made to assassinate several top regime officials four days ago, senior Israeli officials said on Thursday.

The information shows that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s brother-in-law, Assef Shawkat, and several other senior officials were indeed poisoned, just as the Free Syrian Army claims. But prompt medical treatment saved their lives.

Syrian rebel connects with IDF spokesman on Facebook

 

Opposition element writes on Yoav Mordechai’s Facebook page rebels don’t want war with Israel, not interested in Golan Heights

A surprising connection was formed this week between a Syrian opposition element and IDF Spokesman Brigadier-General Yoav Mordechai on the latter’s Facebook page, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Friday.

A Syrian citizen named Abdul Khader wrote the following on Mordechai’s Facebook wall: “We want to get rid of Assad and his regime and modernize Syria by promoting freedom of religion and freedom of thought. We do not want war with you and are definitely not interested in the Golan Heights.” Continue Reading »
