Carter Seeks Weakened Sanctions on Terror Groups

Former President Jimmy Carter is spearheading an effort to convince the United States to weaken sanctions on terrorist groups, The Hill reported.

Carter and other foreign policy experts sent a petition to Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday, asking him to exempt peace groups from policies that make it a crime to offer negotiation training and humanitarian law classes to terror groups.

“The Secretary of State can, and should, exempt peacebuilding activities from this counterproductive application of the law,” says the petition, initiated by The Charity and Security Network, which, according to its website claims “to protect civil society’s ability to carry out peacebuilding projects, humanitarian aid, and development work effectively and in a manner consistent with human rights principles and democratic values.” Continue Reading »

Syrian-Palestinian terror group says units forming to fight for the Golan

Palestinian terror group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) said that after nearly 40 years of quiet on the Syria-Israel border, it was now preparing for new (terrorist) operations .

A militant Palestinian group in Damascus said it is forming combat units to try to recapture Israeli-occupied territory, in particular the Golan Heights, after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah that they would support such operations.

An overwhelming 110 members of the Jordanian House of Representatives signed a petition demanding a pardon for a Jordanian soldier who shot and killed seven Israeli schoolgirls in 1997.

Yaakov “Jack” Teitel, who has been dubbed “the Jewish terrorist,” was sentenced Tuesday to two life sentences plus 30 years in prison. Teitel was convicted on two counts of murder and three of attempted murder.

The American-born Teitel was also ordered to pay his victims 560,000 shekels in compensation.

Three months ago, the High Court ruled that Teitel bears full responsibility for his actions, and cannot claim insanity as a defense. Continue Reading »

Dramatic Terror Arrest by Yamam in Tel Aviv

Special Border Police & Shin Bet units rappelled from rooftop to snatch a terror suspect.

Maariv reported Friday about a dramatic arrest operation in central Tel Aviv that netted a terror activist.

Special Yamam police and Shin Bet forces cooperated in the operation.

Intelligence regarding the presence in Tel Aviv of a terror activist reached the Shin Bet in the late evening hours Thursday. Large police forces sealed off central Tel Aviv.

The forces closed in on an apartment on the corner of Tchernichovsky and Rashi streets, near Dizengoff Center. At around midnight, Yamam forces rappelled from the building’s roof with drawn weapons and burst into one of the apartments, arresting the suspect.

Contrary to Hamas declaration, Bulgarian gov’t denies inviting, meeting Hamas

Gov’t denies official meetings with Hamas legislators in 1st visit to EU country since its 2003 terrorist classification.

BERLIN – The Bulgarian government flatly rejected on Thursday meetings between official representatives of the government and Hamas. Vessela Tcherneva, the spokeswoman for the Bulgarian foreign ministry, told the Jerusalem Post that “the news about an official visit of Hamas is wrong and false” and no one has invited Hamas from the side of the government.”

She added that the Hamas representatives are “on a private visitation of a NGO” in Sofia.

The Muslim terrorist group  claimed responsibility Saturday for a terrorist bombing in Burgas, Bulgaria. The bombing in Bulgaria last week killed five Israelis, one a pregnant woman.

The Lebanese paper El-Nashra reported that the group, which has ties to Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility in an email to the Arab press.

The email also reportedly bragged that the entire month of Ramadan will be a month of “holy war” and violence. “This is a month of war against the Jews and their American helpers, the enemies of Allah,” it stated. Continue Reading »

Bulgaria Police on the Lookout for Another Suspect

The Bulgarian police are holding a manhunt for another suspect they believe assisted the terrorist who carried out the terrorist attack in Burgas.

According to a report in NRG-Ma’ariv, local security forces suspect that the suspect may be in possession of another bomb.

Hezbollah terrorists stick to the same formula

All of the Hezbollah’s targets have met the same criteria in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Thailand, and most recently, Kenya and Cyprus. All of these countries are easy to enter & exit.

Israel’s official spokespeople were unanimous on Thursday: Hezbollah is responsible for the terror attack in Bulgaria. These resolute words were meant not only to pin responsibility on the terror organization, but to try to dissuade it from future attacks.

What led Israel to this conclusion was its accumulated expertise, experience, circumstantial evidence and a smidgen of intelligence. Israel’s conclusion, based on its experience in recent years relentlessly pursuing terrorists on many continents and in many countries, is that the terrorists employed the same methods that they use almost every time.

Terrorist Arrested in Cyprus Who May Have Targeted Israelis

A man detained a week ago on suspicion of planning a terror attack in Cyprus may have targeted Israeli interests.

Cyprus authorities have detained a man on suspicion of being involved in planning a terrorist attack on the east Mediterranean island, a police spokesman said Friday.

The Associated Press quoted spokesman Andreas Angelides as having said that police have “an individual in custody on possible charges pertaining to terrorism laws.”

Angelides declined to identify the suspect, the level of his involvement in the plot and what the intended target would have been. He said disclosure of any details about the case could compromise an ongoing investigation. Continue Reading »

IAF Strikes Terror Targets in Gaza

IAF aircraft strike terror targets in Gaza, in response to Friday’s shooting incident which resulted in the death of one soldier.

 

IAF aircraft struck three weapons manufacturing sites in central Gaza on Saturday night, as well as two terror tunnels, one in northern Gaza and one in the south.

According to a statement by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, direct hits at the targets were identified. All Israeli planes returned safely to their base.

The attack came in response to the shootout between IDF troops and a Gaza terrorist on Friday morning. 21-year-old Golani Brigade soldier Netanel Moshiashvili was killed in the incident. Continue Reading »

The serious incident was hardly reported at all in the press, which was busy counting the number of blows dealt to anarchists who tried to block a major thoroughfare.

Barghouti calls on Palestinians to launch popular resistance against Israel

Imprisoned Fatah commander issues unusual missive calling on Palestinians to sever economic and security coordination with Israel and urging an economic and diplomatic boycott.

Former Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, who is jailed in Israel, published an unusual message on Monday in which he called on the Palestinian public to launch a widespread resistance against Israel.

Barghouti made the remarks ahead of Land Day on Friday, when thousands of people are expected to protest along Israel’s borders to mark the deaths of six Israeli Arabs in March 1976 and protest the Israeli government’s land policies.

The imprisoned Fatah commander, who is serving five life sentences in an Israeli jail, sent the missive from Hadarim prison and called on Palestinians to undertake a popular resistance against Israel. Continue Reading »

The latest terror trend among Arabs in Samaria may be an effort to copy the horrific slaughter in Itamar a year ago, in which five members of a single family were murdered with a knife.

Police from the Samaria Region arrested an Arab woman near the perimeter fence of the city of Emanuel Tuesday morning. She was carrying a large knife.

The woman, 32, was identified by a military force near the village of Imtin, next to Emanuel, located in central Samaria and near the city of Ariel and the communities of Karnei and Ginot Shomron. Continue Reading »
