Israel detains Palestinian-American teen for throwing rocks

The boy’s father said his 14 yr-old son was taken into custody early last Friday morning by 8 rifle-wielding IDF soldiers.

Israeli forces have been holding a Palestinian-American teenager in a military lockup for nearly a week after bursting into his family home and arresting him in an overnight raid for allegedly hurling rocks at Israeli motorists in the West Bank, his father said on Thursday.

Palestinian NGO accuses Israel of ‘water apartheid’ in West Bank

Israel Water Authority dismisses West Bank NGO’s claims as just a ‘political weapon,’, claims Palestinians are actually breaching water agreement.

 

 

The Water Authority dismissed as a “political weapon” a Palestinian report that condemned Israel for depriving Palestinians of their “rightful water supply.”

Titled “Water For One People Only: Discriminatory Access and ‘Water-Apartheid’ in the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” the report is a product of the Ramallah-based non-governmental organization Al-Haq.

The document slams Israel for providing “discriminatory access” to water and enacting “water apartheid” policies that result in the 500,000 Israelis in the West Bank and east Jerusalem receiving six times the amount of water that the 2.6 million Palestinians in the same area do.

Elderly Arab shepherd severely beaten; settlers offer assistance

Hassan Barhoush, an 80-year-old Palestinian shepherd from Kafr al-Labad in the West Bank, remains hospitalized at the Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv after being severely beaten a week-and-a-half ago by two unknown assailants with rods.

Both of Barhoush’s hands were broken in the attack, and he was left bleeding on the ground. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The elderly man’s son, Husni, told Ynet his father tends his sheep for two or three hours a day and then returns home. Continue Reading »

Palestinian officials reports Israel arrested Hamas MP….Again

An IDF spokeswoman is checking claims that Hamas lawmaker Muhammad Natsheh was arrested again by Israel, after recent release from 6-month detention.

Israel on Wednesday arrested four leaders of the Islamist movement Hamas, including lawmaker Mohammed Natsheh, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Hamas officials said.

UNHRC ready to discuss West Bank settlement report

UN Council to examine resolutions filed against Israel after their investigators concluded that Israel could be culpable before the International Criminal Court.

 

The United Nations Human Rights Council will on Monday debate a report by its fact-finding mission on West Bank settlements, which concluded that Israel could be culpable for building over the pre-1967 lines before the International Criminal Court, if the Palestinians become party to the Rome Statute.

The report was first published in January, but the debate on the document takes place during the council’s 22nd session from February 25 to March 22.

Israel warned by Hamas against harming Palestinian Minister

After Shin Bet published a report that Hamas Interior Minister Hammad was involved in plotting attacks against Israel, Hamas warns not to reciprocate.

The Hamas government on Thursday warned Israel against harming its interior minister, Fathi Hammad.

The warning came in response to a Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) report that said that Hammad had been involved in plotting attacks against Israel.

The report, which was published Wednesday, revealed that Hammad had appointed a number of close aides affiliated with Hamas and the Defenders of al-Aksa group to smuggle explosives into the West Bank.

Hamas Terrorist Near Hevron Killed by IDF Troops

A Palestinian Authority Arab terrorist was shot and killed by IDF soldiers, during a clash that broke out on Tuesday evening between soldiers and Arabs in Al-Fawwar, near Hevron.

Two other Arabs were wounded in the incident. The Palestinian Red Cross evacuated them to hospital and their condition is not clear.

An initial investigation of the incident, conducted by the IDF’s Judea Brigade, found that it began when Arabs started throwing firebombs and rocks at Israeli cars traveling on Highway 60, the main road in the area. Continue Reading »

UNICEF reports that Israel mistreats Palestinian children in custody

UNICEF (The United Nations Children Fund)  estimated that about 700 Palestinian children aged 12-17, most boys, are arrested, interrogated and then detained by the Israeli Police, IDF and/or security agents in the West Bank each year.

Report: Obama Wants Timetable of IDF Withdrawal from Judea & Samaria

Unconfirmed Israeli sources report says Obama wants a detailed Israeli withdrawal plan from Netanyahu during his visit to Israel.

U.S. President Barack Obama has demanded a timetable for an Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria, according to an unconfirmed report by World Tribune.

The report quotes anonymous “Israeli sources.”

Violent clashes erupted on Saturday near the West Bank village of Qusra, south of Nablus, between villagers and Jewish settlers from nearby Jewish outpost. IDF forces arrived on the scene and employed crowd-control measures.

EU to exploit legal loophole to boycott ‘settlement’ goods

Germany’s German Der Spiegel magazine claimed Monday that Israeli producers evade European Union legislation and falsely mark products made in the Golan Heights and the West Bank as “made in Israel.”

Report: 4 Palestinians wounded by IDF gunfire in northern Gaza

According to a PA report, a 20 year-old farmer was ‘wounded’ in his eye after soldiers fired tear gas; IDF says in response only one Palestinian wounded.

According to the reports, a 20-year-old farmer was wounded in the eye after IDF soldiers fired tear gas. Three others were wounded by gunfire east of the Jabaliya refugee camp. The wounded were taken to a Gaza hospital.

The IDF said in response that only one Palestinian wounded.

Meanwhile, Israeli military police investigators are looking into the circumstances of the shooting death Wednesday of a 21-year-old Bethlehem woman, Lubnah Hanash.
