MK Steinitz slams Yair Lapid as Supercilious, Arrogant

International Relations Minister Yuval Stinitz referred to Finance Minister Yair Lapid as “boastful and arrogant” on Saturday, in response to Lapid’s request late last month that Steinitz be removed from a security cabinet meeting.

The U.S. intelligence community has been leaking information on Israeli air strikes in Syria, and U.S. President Barack Obama is behind the leaks, according to a report in the World Tribune.

Diplomats told the Tribune that the Obama administration has enabled the U.S. intelligence community to disclose details of Israeli military operations against the armed forces under Syrian President Bashar Assad. AFP reported that the head of the Lebanese terror group made a rare public appearance at a Beirut rally held to mark Iran’s Quds Day.

It was a first appearance in public r for Nasrallah who, according to AFP attended the rally in Rweiss, in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

WATCH: U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv closed over terror threat

Obama: Commitment to Engage Iran in Return for Peace Talks

U.S. President Obama promised Israeli PM Netanyahu to take direct action against Iran “within months,” but did not elaborate on details.

U.S. President Barack Obama gave a commitment to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, to take action “in the coming months” regarding the Iranian nuclear threat, in exchange for Israel’s agreement to renew “peace talks” with the Palestinian Authority (PA), a security source told Arutz Sheva.

The source said, however, that Obama did not reach a specific agreement with Netanyahu, but gave only a general commitment. The source added that it was not clear if the commitment was given in exchange for the very fact that Israel-PA negotiations are being held, or if it is conditional on their success. Analysis: White House Unlikely to Sanction Further Israeli Airstrike on Syrian Missiles

 

 

The NYT reports that a July 5 attack on Yakhont missiles cache wasn’t 100% successful & that possible future strikes by Israel can be expected, but the U.S. will no longer sanction them.

 

Israeli defense sources have declined to comment on The New York Times’ report on an alleged Israeli strike in Latakia, Syria; Israel didn’t comment either when the explosions took place on July 5. After three earlier air strikes attributed to Israel – one in January and two in the beginning of May – Israeli officials dropped hints but refused to admit that Israel was responsible.
